1998 CRV: the door locks go up and down while driving; then stop on their own. Usually happens when car first starts for about 25-30 min, but sometimes when its been driven for a while, too. Is it a fuse or some major electrical issue?

I have a 1997 Honda CRV, I have replaced radiator
and cooling fan myself, they are easy jobs, but when the power door lock quit working gradually, I
am desperate, the power door lock switch and actuator are good, I think it must be the fuses or
solenoid? but where are they? Please help!!

1997 CRV; 197,000; Silencer Security System w/Key fob. Pwr door locks don't always set after starting it up; key fob still sets alarm system, but locks don't engage the way they are s'posed to. Thought the pwr locks were acting up only in the heat, since they'd start working again in the am when it was cooler. Today they aren't working at all. Add my name to the list/club. Anybody get any help yet?

I have a 1997 Honda CRV - with an alarm system. the key fob has always worked setting the alarm and locking the doors. today it set the alarm and locked only the drivers door. Upon closer examination if realized that even when using the door lock switch on the car, that only the driver's side lock is actuating. The other three are not working, does anyone know why this is? I checked the fuse and it is fine.

Hey TOM,
you suggest that the door lock actuator is bad... I took the door panels off of both the drivers door and the front passenger door. i tested the circuit for power on both door and when you either press the lock button on the key fob or the lock switch that is on the door, the test light lights up, telling me that i have power. Would you think that my alarm may have something to do with this? And if not, should i just replace the actuator in the drivers door? Why would and 3 other doors just stop working?

Joe, I had the same problem with mine and it is the wiring harness for your ignition. Replace it now, from the honda dealership (not too expensive) or it will get much worse.

The problem is the ingnition switch/fuse is bad and needs to be replace told to me by the dealer. Had the same problem for months, fixing the fuel filter thinking that was the problem until I had to get it diagnois.

Should be covered under ignition switch recall, as well as many other late 90's honda models, holding the key one way or the other may decrease your tow bill.
