i have a 99 crv. not much problems like other ones in this blog but, say i was going up a very slight hill, it stays in 2nd gear at about 2 1/2 rpms!!! minor annoyance but will this lead to problems such as the ones in this blog?

Depending on how steep the hill is, it's normal for an automatic transmission to stay in a lower gear until you crest the hill.
Hopefully, you've kept up with regular fluid changes over the years.

I also have a 1999 honda cr-v @ first i had to change a engine.then transmission wet bad on ater 3k miles. i had a b20z engine b4 and i put b20b engine is it because of that or is it really a transmission problem, i was driving on hwy @55mph and CEL came on for p0740... tcc solenoid and p0730....incorrect gear ratio....then suddenly i could not go more then 35 mph then 20 then i turn ign off wait for couple minutes then it drives again for little bit then goes into neutral what should i do. if i change only torque converter would that be fine or do i have to change the whole tranny plz help

I have a '97 automatic crv. Got it at 35K, and it is great at 113K! EXCEPT that it for the last 4 years (ahem) it shudders in D when it would need to be shifted down-if it were a manual-...so I shift it down to 3rd until I can go faster. The rear engine mount is missing its rubber piece...I bet this is the culprit! No mechanic ever noticed this missing rubber, until I had a to repalce the battery at a Pep Boys, driving from Savannah to Seattle. Go Pep Boy guy!!!

Did the motor mount fix the problem?

I have a 2000 Honda CRV. I was heading to the laundry then all of a sudden it just died. I can start the car but it wont move. Not on drive, not on reverse, nothing. I am taking it to the shop but wanted to know right away if it is a transmission problem. I dont want to be charged for a transmission problem if it isnt.

There's really no way to tell unless you have it at a shop.

I have a similar problem with my 1999 CR-V. Since I hit about 175K miles, I have noticed that my auto transmission siips while changing gears between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd. As I get to higher speeds, shifting from 3rd and above, it does not appear to be a problem.
I took it to the dealership and they said I would need a new transmission. Since then I have put about 15K miles on it, with no soignificant change so I continue to drive it.
When starting off from a stop, if I am careful to take my foot off the gas just before the gear shits, between 1st and 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, I can often avoid the slipping.
Is a transmission replacement the only solution to this problem?

I have a 1999 honda crv, i was driving it today n the gas light came on, before i got to the gas station it started to decelerate, i dont really know much about cars so i thought its because im out of gas, i fueled it, but then it kept happening again, the car would run for about a block and a half and then it starts decelerating n then it stops and wont work again unless i stop and start the engine again, i kept stopping n starting the engine till i got home, any ideas of whats going on? And what i should do?

Sarah, you need to get it to a shop. Sounds like either a clogged fuel filter(not common, unless you got bad gas) or a bad fuel pump. Let us know how you make out.

2000 honda crv, auto tranny. when tranny gets hot, will not go into gear. If I turn car to ACCESSORIES position, then put in neutral, sometimes it will go into gear so I can drive. Lately will not go into gear when hot, if I park, then try to change, won't let me. Anyone know? orchid4sue@yahoo.com

I have a 2002 CRV automatic that, at times, acts as if it's a standard and the clutch is being let out too quickly. You know, hurky jerky between shifts. I temporarily correct this by turning the ignition off then on again. It usually works first time and is fine until the after it's been sitting for awhile. It only occurs when the engine light is on. I've had no clear answer from the dealership. It's annoying not debilitating. Any ideas.

Martin, you certainly seem to have a transmission or control unit problem. You aren't helping it by driving it in this condition. I suggest stay far away from the dealer and find a local independent transmission shop.
