Long, story, but I got dirt in it a while back from dropping my keys in the rain then unlocking my door, recently it doesn't work at all, the key will go in but not turn. Does anyone know what to do about this, or how much it would cost to get it fixed, or if I should just find a lock smith to help me out? Thanks.

try spraying a little w-d40 in the key hole. use the little straw that comes with the can. you could also use some electrical contact cleaner the same way.

also, did u know u could lock all the doors by pulling the lever to open the door from the inside while depressing the drover side door lock??

I have tried the WD40, it didn't seem to help at all. What is electrical contact cleaner?

I have been locking it that way, but its just kind of a pain, having to unlock it from the passenger side and climb over to unlock the drivers side.

I a spray similar to wd-40 but its used to clean electrical contacts to help lubricate and conduct electricty. not sure if it would work , just a suggestion. i'm sure honda would charge a couple hundred bucks to fix it tho, maybe call a dealer and ask if they have any suggestions.

Thanks! I'll try that.

I was really trying not to go to a dealer, I might wind up with a new car if I do that, which will cost a lot more that a couple of hundred!

I would not spray WD40 into a lock, because it has a petroleum base, even though it is "Water Displacement - 40." The water from your key has evaporated, so I would try some spray graphite, available from an auto parts store in a little tube. I would only use graphite in a lock. Good luck.

I have a 2002 CRV. Lately, my remote lock has been acting up. It seems to lock and unlock every door but the drivers door. Usually I end up using my key. Does this sound familiar to anyone ??

Someone else had suggested graphite, I'll try that, nothing else has worked.

Sorry Allen, I've heard of people having trouble with the remote, I didn't ever have one, kind of wish I did now.

I have the same problem with my 2002 crv. It used to happen once in a while, now I have to use the key every time. I think the levers (tumblers?)insid the door are out of alignment. I'm trying to find out how to get into the door to check on this. The dealer wants lots of $ for this.

I have 1999 CR-V EX and the driver side door does not open from inside with latch. I have to roll down window and open the door with outside handle. The lock works fine. ANy idea why the handle does not open it from inside?

2002 CRV: Key problems with drivers door + back door. Key just won't go in. The dealer is suggesting a complete lock cylinder replacement at $200 per door + installation. Has anyone had luck with graphite?

Even better for the lock would be a small tube of graphite you can get at a hardware store... better for locks than oils. Cheap too. Just squirt some of the graphite into the lock. If that doesn't do it, you may need professional help (or a good, strong vacuum cleaner to try to suck the dirt out???).
