Honda Civic

As gas prices rise, so does cost of small used cars

The beige 2003 Honda Civic sat on Mike Haile's used car lot in Atlanta for only three days before he sold it for $8,200. And that was $300 more than the asking price.

I see that Shrub and McBush are up to their tricks. Run gas up and then watch the price of economy cars follow suit.
The repubmorons are at it again. GO HILLARY. BUSH MUST GO. DON'T ELECT McBUSH.

It's not gauging. Higher efficiency vehicles are just worth more than they used to be. That's the whole philosophy behind the hybrid market. Yes, they cost more, but to some people, that cost is justified. It is interesting, though, that do to the operational cost of autos, a larger car is now moving towards being worth less than a smaller car. I wonder how the auto manufacturers will respond to this, given that they don't make much money on the small cars, but make lots on the larger ones. My guess is that they will try to increase the cost of the small ones, so if you are looking to buy a new small car, I would do it sooner rather than later.

Its not any of those things.
It is supply and demand.
You charge what the market will bear.

Did you read about our moronic leader saying the other day that oil will run out so the middle east better get with the new economy? True or not that has to be the dumbest move ever at a time when we are trying to lower the cost of oil. The result was that speculating investors rushed in to buy oil futures and drove the oil price up yet farther. I can't wait until these Republican jerks are gone.

My gf has a 2004 Honda Civic - not for sale. I have a 2006 Honda S2000 - not for sale. I hope the gas prices keep going up. It will get a lot of people out of those gas guzzling SUVs and trucks that they don't need to be in, in the first place. Those vehicles are part of what's driving the price of gas up - more demand from poor fuel mileage vehicles. In Europe, with the cost of gas at near $8 per gallon, people only drive small cars or diesels with excellent fuel economy.

It is guaging when we have American troops sitting on top of the second most largest oil reserves in the world, in Iraq. To argue otherwise is just bs.

Gas prices are high but still in msot cases are managable. THe problem that with gas prices everything goes up. And i don't think there will be smaller airplanes, smaller ships and smaller trucks for ground transportations.

Yeah, blame Bush. THe price of oil has skyrocketed since the democraps took over Congress and refuse to increase our own supply. Now the Democraps are raising our taxes. Good move. Let's soak the rich so they can have no money to spend on new employees and investments, which create more tax revenue. Let's do it the old democrap way - tax the country into prosperity. No country has ever taxed itself into prosperity - they have only fallen. Search for truth and stop drinking the politicians' kool-aid.

If their fuel effeciency is so great, why are they paying $8 a gallon? With your stupid logic, we'd have more demand with less gas guzzlers. If that were the case, then Europeans should be paying less than we are. NOT! I'm sure their governments are taxing the crap our of them to pay for all the low life lazy bastards that don't want to work and want free help care.

I love these idiots who complain about the high price of oil but vote for politicians who demand no drilling in Alaska of the Gulf. Actually the word "No" is not an energy policy. Instead of blaming some right wing conspiracy I suggest looking in the mirror.

So the prices of larger vehicles are going down. Is that charity? You're an idiot! Haven't you ever heard of market economics or maybe supply and demand?

Our country has over a trillion barrels of oil in shale deposits in the Colorado region. There are millions or possible billions of barrels of oil off our (Florida and the southern gulf states) coasts. Because of environmentalists we haven't built an oil refinery in 20 or 30 years and the oil companies have to switch to a less polluting more expensive blend in the summer months. This current run up in oil is bad, but could be completely avoided if our mother earth friends would just let us drill and build the refineries needed. We could eliminate our dependance on the arabs within a couple of years. Why can't this just happen. Wouldn't it be nice to pay less than a dollar for a gallon of gas again??
