The toyota corolla is designed simply for mpg. Its an econobox. GM wishes it had something that gets the corollas mileage.

Wow, 140 lbs heavier and slated to get a slightly less MPG than the previous year. I don’t believe GM wants the Corolla, especially as the poor reviews keep pouring in on the Toyota brand., while GM is finally getting positive press for once. I think GM needs to keep moving forward just as they are now.

Thanks for pointing that out. Heavier and gets worse mileage than the 07. Wouldn't touch the new corolla with a 10 foot cattle prod.

And if Ford put a 5 speed auto in the focus, it would be on a par with the corolla. Are you listening ford? I also think it was a mistake for Ford to drop the wagon version.

Maybe on par in terms of fuel economy and performance, but it would still lag very far behind in resale value.

My last 3 tanks on my 2009 Corolla got me 38, 40, and 39 MPG. I'm quite satisfied.

Corolla Australia's top selling car for 2008, General motors Commodore second, Toyota Hi lux ute third, Mazda 3 fourth, Camry fifth, Ford Falcon sixth, Toyota Aurion seventh, and Toyota Yaris eight. Toyota sold 21,669 cars in March GM Holden 11,211 Foed 9,206 Mazda 7,565. The new car market is on target to do better than last year when over one million new cars were sold not to bad with a population of 21 million. So not so good cars sell well in Australia. enjoy the day.

Ford was the first automaker to mass produce an affordable automobile so I have much higher expectations of them than their recent performance has shown. They owe it to America to get things sorted out.

I am hoping ford gets their act together. Where's the small diesel for the F-150? What about the F-150 hydraulic hybrid that was supposed to come out? Why not put the escape hybrid engine in the Ranger?

thank you for saying that....i also have purchased an 09 corolla and i think they're great...compared to the durango i was driving, it's a godsend...

So youd like to save $10 a week in gasoline but find it okay if you are mowed down by a suburban or excursion (or any full sized vehicle) any faster than 35 mph you will likely not survive?
