The fact that Toyotas and Hondas are some of the best selling in cars in the USA with high reliability ratings is certainly a big reason why they are some of the most stolen cars. You could probably try to steal a Ford Focus or Chevy Cobolt, but the cops would only have to search for the stolen car within a 1 mile radius.

The Cadaillac Escalade has one the highest ratios for # of stolen cars per number of total cars on the road.

1995 Honda Civic is the most stolen car!?!? You probably can't find a 1999 or older Ford, Chevy, or GM sedan or compact car that is still running.

This report shows just how well organized car theft is for parts. Why else would anyone target those particular older model cars? It's scary to know that Orlando has organized car theft rings, car parts are big, profitable business. What I want to know is who is buying them? Are these parts being shipped or resold here?

I have a '98 Honda Civic HX (manual) with over 110,500 miles. I love that little car. I take good care of it with regular oil changes and the car takes care of me by getting me to work on time.
When I go to buy a new car, you best believe it will be another Honda Civic.

I have stolen a lot of cars, but I would never even want to get into a 95 Civic. They are pieces of krap

One big reason Honda's are the most stolen has to do with interchangeable parts....many parts on a civic will fit on many Honda and Acura models plus they are easy to steal and not very traceable.

Does anyone know where the complete list is? The Slantinel wasn't at all useful in trying to find out more info. Shocking.

Nevermind. The source for this material is some 'not for profit' group that seems to manipulate some NCIC data and doesn't go beyond a 'top ten' that I can see.

Pretty worthless.

If anyone knows where some valid stats are that have some depth, that would be nice.

The computer key has done a lot to stop the thefts. Now you must steal both the car and the key.

It's the parts that are valuable. A tow truck can ride off with any car, no key needed.
The reason we don't see Porches, Mercedes and BMWs on the list are because Puerto Ricans haven't evolved enough to take apart these vehicles for parts. Plus, it's not economically feasible since they can't sell the parts to other Ricans or use them on their own vehicles because Ricans only drive garbage cars that Americans toss in the trash.
I find it interesting that outside the dodge ram and f 150 these other cars are very popular models for blacks and hispanics Im surprised no maximas in the list blacks love those.

You missed the point of the article. It was completely over your head.
El Slantinel was trying to warn you. On account of all the greasy Ricans and wettbacks, beware anyone with an old jap car. The Puerto Ricans are on the loose and they're stealing old hondas and toyotas for parts to keep their ricer mobiles on the road.
Meanwhile, you have a bunch of Anglo NASCAR fans and union families who buy unreliable and poor performing Fords, Chyrsler's, and GM's under the notion they are supporting America by buying "Union Made in the USA". They slap on the number of their favorite NASCAR driver, but you will find their cars dead on the road and waiting for a tow before the car reaches 50,000 miles.

Sorry, but I don't see this population to be any more educated or sophisticated than the Fast and the Furious crowd you criticize.
