Please help me. I have a 1991 honda accord and my seat belt lights flashes and the alarm sounds. I have automatic belts. When I open the passenger's side door the sound and blinking will still continue. When I open the driver's side door it stops. When it is blinking and flashing I disconnect the driver's side selt belt and nothing happens and if I disconnect the belt on the passenger's side the light goes solid. I have taken out both seats. The harnesses below the seats are contected. I plugged and unplugged the wires from the seat belt control unit under the passenger's seat. I have read a lot of people are having problems with this just haven't been able to find the answer. Please I beg you please help. Thanks.

The seat belt system is a very complex system, but there's a quick way to make the noise and the flashing stop. There is a little black box just above the floor and behind the ashtray area. The box houses the buzzers and is the electronic connector for the safety belt system. It is about 8" square and 3" thick. You'll find one phillips screw on the passenger's side of the box. Remove it and take off the side cover to reveal the 2 electrical connectors. The front one (at least on a 1991 Honda Civic) is the one that you need to disconnect. It will stop the beeping and the flashing lights instantly. Just disconnect it and move on. I'm not sure if it effects the automated seat belts or not. If it does, then you'll need to isolate the beeper and remove the light bulb from the back of the instrument cluster if it annoys you. Let me know if this helps. tdf Don wrote: Please help me. I encountered this problem today w/ my 91 Honda Accord (coupe). If the passenger door is closed, I get the aforementioned blinking seatbelt warning and incessant beeping.
Diagnosis? The lining for the automatic shoulder restraint is broken, preventing the runner from reaching the end of the track.
I advise similarly-affected owners to inspect the track lining the troublesome door and assert the runner can complete its jog.

Same problem with my 91 Civic. I put up with the beeping for almost a year until I just broke the speaker that is inside that box. A few months later my driver side seat belt no longer moves back and forth on the track.

I too drive a 1991 Civic LX... and just yesterday on my way back to work on lunch.. the damned seatbelt light started flashing accompanied by a up-tempo BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP... its faster than the usual seatbealt unbuckled alert.. and won't stop.:( I took a look at the box and found the connector.. but CAN'T get it out! I'm afraid to damage it because of the threat of having the automatic seatbelts quit.. but boy that beeping is really grating on my nerves. How do you detatch it?!

When I got there this morning, they wanted $100 for diagnosis in case it wasnt under warranty. So I left with my car. I am going to try your fix. Will also call American Honda.

Honda told me that it would be $638 to replace the seat belt warning control unit (of course a rip off) so I'm searching the web for the part. I haven't tried the idea of disconnecting the wire in my 1991 accord ex but will do so and repost but don't go spending that kind of money, its mostly labor, the part appears to be cheap (I found it on EBAY for $20.00 and I can have my personal mechanic put it in for $50 or $75).

i have a 91 accord ex and the seat belts on both sides stopped working about two days ago. by the floor of the driver's side panel, there are two plugs for the seat belt. one is for the actual seat belt and the other is for the beeping for when the dorr is closed. i forced the seat belt buckle to the back of the doorand disconnected the bottum wire, so the buckle would stay, the top plug will disconnect the light and beeping with no other problems. hopes this helps out

if your seat belt wont go up when you close the door, simply take off the plastic trim from inbetween the back and front doors on bottom, there will be a plug for power to the automated seat belts motor, use a car batterie or charger on low, insert two small wires to the plug going into the motor. and connect the wires to batterie or charger, if it tries to go forward then switch the wires. it should go back. then leave the motor disconected and you just have to mannually plug in your seat belt when you drive. 100 percent safe.
