im financially on pins and needles with this car. I have a job with variable hours that doesn't make a lot of money (but has the potential to), and i have an old car...a 1995 Honda Accord to be exact. Yes, that's right, i'm driving a 16 year old car and i lover her but i hate her at the same time. I'm just starting out in life out of college, and really can't afford a new car. Yet, I've spent nearly 4 grand in the past 8 months on repair bills for this car: new paint job, new radiator, rebuilt transmission, new solenoids and electrical sensors, new battery, new transmission hose, new tires, and new brakes and rotors. It broke down on me twice during this time...all a week apart. I just got it out of the shop and drive it about 30-60 mi per day to work. It's old and doesn't need to be going that far, but someone has to pay the bills right?(driving this far to work isn't abnormal in LA either, which is ridic because LA already has a traffic problem). I honestly do not know what else can go wrong with this car. Thinking about buying a new (used) car...preferably a 2010/2011 model, because i'm honestly apprehensive about driving this car now that it's broken down 2 times within the past week. What should i do? Sell/no sell, and since it's my first time buying a used car, what should i do to attain a newer model?

My friend, the question to answer is if you have the money to invest in another car. You say that you painted the car. I assume that your job requires a better looking car, right? If not, spare yourself the expense. You're not trying to impress your friends with that car, are you? You are not driving far. On busy weeks I drive an average of 100 miles per day. My car has 204k and is only 6 years old, so the mileage isn't an issue, rather the age of the car. Start saving, and when you're better off, sell it.
