This is the problem with cheap car companies like Ford: they think that hanging different sheet metal on a Mondeo/Fusion chassis creates a new that handles better. Admittedly, the body on the new Lincoln looks quite elegant, at least for something designed in the U.S., where crude/cheap/basic is typically the name of the game. However, who wants a 4 cylinder, recycled from a mustang, that makes 170 lb-ft and 240 HP? When will the idiots in Detroit learn about turbodiesel direct injection? Compare the Mkz to, say BMW 535d or Audi A6 3.0 tdi, both of which make over 400 lb-ft and about 300 HP, yet enjoy 30-40 mpg? This Lincoln is another example of the U.s. being 30 or 40 years behind the rest of the world.
