The heat in my Yukon on the drivers side blows cold air, the passenger side is blowing hot air. Its problematic because the defrost on the driver side will not work if its blowing cold air in the winter

I have been told it is due to "dissimilar metals in the heater core". I dont know any more than that, or if thats correct. Something to think about though.
