Good time to hang on to the old clunkers -- the government will pay me far more than they're worth.
I was just going to junk a couple cars, I'm glad I read this in time. |

My 1985 Ford Bronco is worth 3 times what they are giving so they can kiss my A** LOL

Glad I can help pay for someone else to get a new car!(Or did the President and his henchmen forget where all that proposed money is coming from?) Damned Democratics.

The reason that we are in this big economical mess is due to programs like this one that get common people into debts that they cannot afford. Very bad idea. These "public" funds should go to public transportation.

The bankrupting of the U.S. treasury continues at lightning speed!

Hello Everybody,
First I think this is a great program. Now, if the cards are played right then it would hike up the economy and get people that were reluctant to own a new vehicle closer to doing so. I have a few comments for two people. John B.- well its great that u speak for yourself and other tax payers.Judging by the measly tax contribution that you make to this economy! some people just complain to complain. Since internet forums have no face to face interaction people get brave and make cynical comments. Get real and get smart. Speak for yourself. Jesus- The only way to get out of this hell hole economy is to keep on spending. Yes, and I do agree that credit was given to people that do not have the means to pay. Lenders should be mindful about a persons earnings before lending them a huge heap of money. But if a stricter lending regimen is followed then the owners of these "clunker" vehicles can own newer cars and help our economy and our environment at the same time. |

no this is not a good program, the majority of people who own the target cars and trucks, have them for a reason, they do the job, they are paid for, and they either do not want or cannot afford a payment on a better vehicle. the people who will abuse this program will used the incentive on the upside-down portion of their current loan to bring the value of their late model car or truck to par, just to get a newer vehicle. These are the same people whose houses are going into foreclosure!….So my tax dollar will help them to drive away from the house payment which my tax dollar is bailing their bank out of. Keep them in good credit graces, to buy another home they can’t afford later…… All so the Gov’t can tell us the economy is doing better, you know – Obamanomics- Oh I know – we can just print more money……. There was no thought put into this at all. |

Hmmm...so if I go out and pay $50 for a junked car that is on the "low gas mileage" list I can turn around and get handed $4500 to use as a down payment on a new vehicle? Can I do this multiple times? If I play this right I can get me a really nice car paid for by Obama!

Any doubts now that Obama is a Communist?
I think I'll go down to the junkyard today and buy a few old clunkers, this should be a great way to make some easy money. |

Only good for the purchase of NEW cars... who the hell wants a new car?
instead of this, they should pay $1,000 for ALL cars.. which would get rid of the worst cars, owned by the poorest people and then send the junkers to china to chop up on the empty ships going back to china. putting money in the poorest of the poors hands, poor people cant afford brand new cars. |

I only speak for myself, Ruben, and I pay a sh*tload of taxes to the various govt's (yes, there is more than one, my ignorant friend).
You wrote HUH? Get an MBA (like I possess) and then maybe we can have an intelligent discussion. |
