What they should do is stop trying to spread the brand concept any further. It is no longer conceptually sound and cost effective as it was when it began years ago.

Many of the same options are on many of the cars why is it necessary to continue in the same ineffective Marketing Strategies.

While I understand there is a need to spread the loyalty but, there comes a time when the price of loyalty spills into the price of selling products.
Good move but

GM is making a good move here, but they are still missing a key element to reduce costs. They need to stream-line the options and mimic Honda in offering a car with level one (Good options), Level 2 (More options) and Level 3 (All the options)
The cost of having so many options on a per vehicle basis is costing GM Billions in overhead that they could eliminate.

How's that go? You can put lipstick on a pig, but you still have a pig. That's it.

Did anyone at GM think that maybe they just have too many different brands of all the same base vehicle? And since there are a lot more choices other than GM that this concept isn't financially sound anymore?

Hurrah for Barack. And if he raises gas taxes, two hurrah's. And if he removes the oil companies' tax breaks, three hurrahs. If we would pay at least $5.00 per gallon, we would all buy smaller more efficient cars. McCain's plan to eliminate gasoline taxes is disastrous. But it is good Republican: lower taxes, increase the national debt.

Better than the good liberal model, raise taxes, steal money from the rich, give to the poor so they can buy more drugs and produce more welfare offspring and then lie and steal more from the middle class and call it a good day...

GM can do all it wants to "change/streamline" brands. Bottom line is until the UAW gets run out of town GM will continue to die by bleeding to death from the bloodsucking UAW.

Ya know I do know that. Career "Politicians" do not do anything for the little guy only big business. Bug business has to realize that it was the middle class that bought their products and paid for their exorbendant salaries that we go why do you need that much money? GM has got tah big business mentality like saying that the cost of 1500.00 on every vehicle they produce is direct related to agreed contracted health care for their workers but does not say anything about GM's CEO Bob Lutz' premium bounus' and stock options paid to him last year that figure is just disgusting. wonder why they need that much money after a losing year?
