General Motors Corp. may get rid of some brands, speed the introduction of small cars from other markets and make further white-collar job cuts as it tries to deal with a shrinking U.S. auto market.

General Motors cannot give the American a car to be proud of if they tried.

What is funny is they have many stylish and fun cars in Europe that would fit here great.

LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS GM. NOT YOUR DEALERSHIPS

General Motors Management runs the company like the us government! They suck at it and ther cars suck to.
The only american car that I would consider is a Ford product even though F.O.R.D. stand for FIX OR REPAIR DAILY!

Any smart automaker will release a car that is alternative fuel at a cheap price. The volkswagen beetle scratched an itch in the 60's & 70's.

Release a 4-seater that beats fuel prices and you will sell hundreds of thousands of vehicles. Presently GM cars are on the bottom of my list, they stink....

GM makes some pretty bad vehicles. I find fault with the people who put the company in these dire straights: Greedy unions, lazy workers who felt entitled to rape the company, CEO's and CFO's who took the money and ran, and junk materials imported from China. Toyota used to be at the top of the list for reliability. Now it has fallen below Subaru because so many Toyotas are made in the USA. We need to wake up!

Detroit hasn't had an original idea in 30 years or more. They are slow to react to the market and are always playing catch-up with the Japanese. you cannot lead by following. The sad part is, they have the ability to do anything they want. They could give us high quality, high mileage, affordable and well designed vehicles if they wanted to. They are just lazy. Management AND labor have failed.

Re: Vonnie
Seriously, you're going to try and change opinions with a Chevy Corsica reference. Get a life! GM is a horrible company and their automobiles reflect their work ethic. I worked for GM, it was the most backward company I've ever seen and the attitude of the CEO's bread terrible attitudes from the line workers resulting in poor quality, poor design, and poor finish work. GM is a prime example of a quality american company gone wrong. Corsica, gimme a break, please.....

I bought a 96 S-10 new, and the anti-lock brakes would fail to brake at all in a tight turn - like parking - or on a bumpy road. I took it to the dealer twice and they gave it back without repair. I traded it in on a Toyota, and told chevy about the dealership problem. They said they're not responsible for the way dealerships do business. I told them that if I read that the truck killed someone because of the brakes, I would contact the families involved. They seemed a little more concerned then. I've bought 4 new vehicles since then, none a GM product. All they had to do was care about the customer, and they may have sold me those 4 other cars. Chrysler, Toyota, and Mitsubishi have been great to me. Goodbye, GM, I won't miss you.

They didn't listen 30 years ago and still don't get it. They fought change and improvement and continue to in the same old way not unlike the Brits. They treated line workers like dirt and built in conflict. The arrogance of yesteryear is now paying off.

I don't understand you guys. I live in Europe, and the customer attitude here is, hm... different. We understand that if we don't buy the cars built here, we commit a suicide.

Even is the French build a crappy car, they will buy it. Same for the Italians (FIAT) or the Spanish (SEAT) or even the Germans/Austrians (VW). You may hate your companies like GM; but if you let them go down the toilet, so will your income and pensions !

The USA used to be a proud nation, with people aiming higher and higher. These days all I hear is whining and at the same time praising the foreign products... Get this: the dollar WILL lose more of its value against the dollar, the yen and the rimimbi (Chinese currency). It is a fact you have to leave with.

If you are unhappy with the products built locally, do something against it. Buying only imports will do no good to your country in the long run.

First of all, you're from a third world eastern european block country. Call me when you get an indoor toilet.

Second, you must be the dumbest slug on the planet if you think the Euro is going to gain any more ground on the dollar. Once the US economy stabilizes, the european bank will cut rates and the euro will turn back into the shit.
