GM given strike warnings at 5 plants
“We remain committed to continuing to bargain in good faith toward reaching a tentative local labor agreement as soon as possible.”
General Motors Corp. faces the possibility of strikes at five plants in Michigan, Ohio and Texas as early as April 13 if the automaker is unable to reach local contract agreements at those UAW locals within 10 ... via WZZM

Have you ever seen one of those cartoons where a fellow is standing on a limb that he is cutting, and the cut is between the trunk and himself? Well, that’s what I’m thinking here.
I was at Avis the other day, I joked to the fellow at the counter “I felt like I was walking through a Hyundai dealership. Although it wasn’t bad, I won’t repeat the comment. No one wins with these strike talks. CBC interviewed union leaders and members separately the other night. They don’t agree either. Maybe if the rank and file voted as THEY wanted, and listened to the news as well as their employer, we could avoid a strike. |

1 WHY ARE WORKERS(who do the work)ALWAYS THE VILLIAN? WHY ARE(less than 500,000)UNION WORKERS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DOWN FALL OF THE U.S.? WHY DON'T EXECUTIVE WAGES AND BONUSES OFFEND(normal)PEOPLES SENSE OF COMMOM SENSE AND FAIRNESS. |

Have you ever heard the saying don't believe everything you hear or read. |

If the corporations that come up with the $73/hour figure would offer workers $50/hour pay with no benefits, what do you think would happen? Being an skilled trades worker for GM, I would have to say that according to the company, they would be saving $23/hour. I would think that anyone could find as good of benefits as we have today for the difference in what we make (about $30/hour) and the $50/hour. Do you idiots see what I am saying, the corporations #'s are bogus (to put it nicely). Keep on striking axle workers, we are behind you 100%. Buy American!!! Eat your imports!!!

i get so sick of hearing how AMA workers make $73 and hour with benefits, well like the one guy said pay me $50 an hour & take my benefits. I can find my own insurance & invest my own money 4 retirement. there case solve they just saved$30 an hr in employee cost. When they say with benefits thats company wide & if their insurance changes like mine has & everyone elses u will never meet your deductible unless god forbid u have a serious illness. The CEO's of these companies could take the bonuses they get every year & pay 20 of those employees wage & benefits themselves. They just seem 2 forget they wouldnt b making their money if us working class wasnt out on that shop floor busting our butts working holidays & weekends while they r with their families.

1 Hello gmworker AND keepworkhere. I also, at one time, thought unions “sucked”. Until I realized that without them, even the presents of them, Corporate greed would run amuck with their employees. I agree also with your statement “Buy American!!! Eat your imports!!!” Only problem with that is if I “eat” the Chinese products I might get food poisoning. There is nothing more irritating to me then to see a WW2 Veteran driving a Toyota. So much loyalty. Made here or not the bottom line is ...Who is getting the final check. I have a friend that work’s for GM and is always complaining about the pis* poor wages and bennies he receives....while driving to work in his Came ray! |

I also wanted to mention...I get a laugh out of the ignorant individuals that proclaim “ I bought this Jap Crap for the gas mileage!” If they were to do their homework they would find that GM’s Aveo, Cobalt, to name two, gets the same and in many cases More than their Jap counterparts. Thanks for your ear.

You are certainly right about getting poisoned when eating your import....LOL... It also amazes me when vets drive imports... Keep work here by buying American made products... By the way, Chevy Aveo's are made in Korea by non-UAW workers... great gas mileage though.... |

I guess only the UAW Matters. The rest of us that have family's doesn't matter in their heart and eyes. They don't care if we live in the streets or die. If it isn't bad enough that the gas and oil are outragious...The price of everything going
up,unemployment going up double like gas and oil. I guess the Bible is RIGHT. I don't go to church all the time, But IF ya know anything at all ya all know that it is happening again. Everyone needs to sit back and think about it. The schools are even pushing the children to grow up to fast. What we used to learn in second grade, ya need to know in kindergarden... I could go on and on, but who is really lissioning????? |

our country gov. runs this country we pay them to do so they make the decisions for us to keep our people so they are our mouth so blame them. for hardships.

You are kinda mis-representing the $73/hr... That is with an average benifits/health care cost figured in.... Most of those employees make $20 something an hour..... get you facts strait! |
