GM is making yet another mistake by cancelling the V8 engine plant project. Lexus, Infinity, Range Rover are all premium vehicles with V8 motors. Driving a car with a V8 is the American Way. With today's technology motors can be made that get 25 to 30 miles to the gallon. Some already do! This is the same thing that the big three did in the 80's. Building cars with lackluster performance to save gas. There are plenty of these vehicles out there. GM should take this negative stigma and use it to promote itself by being the first to develope a 300hp v8 that can deliver 28 to 30 miles to the gallon. I know I will only buy a car or truck with at least 6 litres of displacement no matter how exspensive gas gets, please don't make my choices limited to the asian market.
