If we are the greatest nation on Earth, then why don't we have single-payer health care? Those who oppose it say it doesn't work in other countries that have it.

Dude, why don't you go back to one of those utopian countries in Europe so you won't be a drain on our health care, which happens to be the finest in the world. Why do you think Canadians and other foreigners come here to have cancer treatment and major surgery? Idiot.

Christopher Lawrence missed the easy answer. We are the greatest country on earth because we are not yet socialist, and thus do not have a single payer system.

He seems to forget that Medicare, a government administered single payer insurance program for those 65 and older, that doesn't deny claims before the second round of chemo, that doesn't deny claims because pre-existing conditions...No, Medicare spends 97% of premiums on health care while the insurance industry, returns about 70%.
