07 autoshift problems

I'm having the same autoshift issue with an 06 FTL. Did you get the problem resolved? If so, what was the issue? FTL replaced the solenoid and wiring harness a few days ago. The truck ran fine for a couple of days but then it started having the same problems. The truck gets stuck in either high or low gear.

I have a '05 Columbia with the same problems, I've had the wiring harness changed out twice, the last time with a "updated version" updated my a$$! My problem is, it will get stuck in 8th, 9th or 10th gear and flash with an F or have an arrow pointing up or down while flashing with a number (usually up and in 10thgear)! I have to pull over and pull the transmission ecm fuse out and let the computer reset, this takes 5 to 10 minutes, sometimes the speedo will drop to zero and it will loose a little power, then the check engine light will come on and go off, most of the time it will come on and stay on, it will also seem to loose power and come right back again as if the engine has stopped running a started by itself! When it sticks in gear and the speedo drops down to zero I let off the gas and it will actually go into neutral and then go back into gear! There are times when I'm have my cruise ste and the thing will kick into nuetral and the moter will rev up, I have to hit the clutch to turn the cruise off and the damn thing will pull again!
I asked a mechanic if I can take out the electronics and put in a stick since I have a clutch peddle in the truck already, I can't seem to get a straight answer, one mechanic said if my tranny was a generation 1, then it could be converted but if it's a generation 2, then it couldn't be, can anyony out there in trucker land or mechanic land tell me if it can be converted and if so how much to convert?
I read one comment that Freightliner should be ashamed of themselves for the garbage they did with these "smart shifts", yes they should, they should be damned ashmed of themselves!

the comp i work for have 07 frieght with the problum of not wanting to shift or hunting for 9 .but only does under certin conditions and we have alot of turbo issues with the mercedes benze engine

I HAVE A 2007 FREIGHTLINER AUTO SHIFT 12 SPEED GEAR INDICATOR FLASH SM AND THE GEAR THAT IT IS IN, WHEN FLASHING IT IS STUCK IN THE GEAR IT IS IN

I have a 2001 freightliner century ultrashift and lately I've been having problems when shifting.
Some days specialty when I first start it in the morning it shifts fine for the first 10 or 15 minutes but after some time it'll shift only to 5th gear please reply

The ecm power supply cable inside the battery box has a lug that comes off of it, i would check that, they are known to break allof the time. check the power supply coming from the harness also. they short out and will cause all of these issues

I own a 2006 Frtl Columbia w/autoshift 10 speed. In the past, when driving on the road, my dashboard led display will display "F" intermittently. I'v replaced: VCU 2x, X Y switch 2x, ignition relay 2x, solenoid, alternator, starter, the entire ground cable from battery to starter, all 4 batteries, the back up alarm switch & ignition key switch. I still have the problem....intermittently. Once,(a few months back) truck was parked on a dock and truck would not start. The problem, was a the #4 cylinder had a loosen fuel line going into the block. Since, that intermittent "F" vanished in the dark of night. If, you've tried everything else...$120.00 of labor charges to further your esoteric exploration of the intermittent "F" transmission problem. During this period where your trained mechanic(s) are hand wringing about how hard learning their job is.

I have 07 columbia problem is upshifting when vehicle warms up a litlle,works perfectly first thing each morning when cold,sometimes works fine,other times plays up something terrible,it seems to be searching for the next gear and cannot find it until after 3 or 4 seconds.
Everything has been done on the outsidenew xy shift,3 new sensors and wiring harness,new ecu,new shift control ecu,2 new solenoids,shift + range cyc. checked cleaned +new o rings,data link checked found to be working fine,batteries all good,new fuse fitted to main ecu power cable.
Any assistance much appreciated.

We have the same problem as Rocky, 71chop and z skyline on our 05 KW T 2000. Shops replaced, clutch, xy shifter & harness, batteries, cables, starter and some chaffed wires behind starter. Data links ohm out.
It acts up completely randomly. Sometimes OK for 500 miles then can not get 1/2 mile.
Will a bad data link or XY computer show up on a tester if it is NOT in faulty mode when the test is done?
Has anyone solved their problem yet? If so How?The common denominator seems to be Eaton autoshift. Anyone consider a class action lawsuit?
Please answer ASAP we have been stuck in TN a week and can not leave as trans may lock up in any gear up or down any mountain.

You can put a manual transmission in your truck.. I have a two pedal auto shift in a 05 freightliner century. And they quoted me a price of about $8700.00 ... Your truck already has a clutch pedal so it would be a lot easier than mine.. If should be about $4000.00 for your truck o less...

I have an eaton auto shift which gets stuck in 10th gear, can't get neutral. I have had a new ecm motor and xy selector and harness.
If I tap on the box it seems to reset itself. It can happen at anytime. Any suggestions?

Yes you can transfer truck to manual
Cost around 10 000.
Need to take out automatic transmission and put manual in it
Lots of work to be done
