sure glad we don't have tolls in wisconsin! ...although just got my letter today from the Illinois tollway claiming my 36-instances of missed tolls in 2007!!! Though it was my understanding that they sent you a fine after 3-4, but now I read on their website that you recieve notice after 5. Which would be fine by me, I can handle a $100 penalty for being lazy and using my parents' i-pass and it not registering before I get wiser and just get one of my own... but why wait a whole year to inform me, and keep stacking the charges up along the way?!? something is seriously wrong here... any way of reducing?

My husband & I received 2 letters one for our jeep and the other for his old car we got rid of in spring 2007. The letters were for 2006 totalling $1000 they had $20 fines on each vilation. It wsa bery excessive I don't use the tollway my husband used my vehicle when his broke down on occassion, but he payed online by crefit card if he didn 't have changemany as they were asking /dollars. We are responsible for some but not 50 tolls! We were told we had to pay them or our plates would be suspended, we were responsible for it all according to them. That was my school tuition. I feel we are owed at least half of them back. The $20 fines each is excessive. Amy

My husband & I received 2 letters one for our jeep and the other for his old car we got rid of in spring 2007. To pay fines 2 years after the fact and The letters were for 2006 totalling $1000 they had $20 fine for 50 tolls worth at once we could couldn't make our bills that month and were very late on several. It was have very excessive I don't use the tollway my husband used my vehicle when his broke down on occassion, but he payed online by credit card if he didn 't have cash. We are responsible for some but not 50 tolls especially at once! We were told we had to pay them or our licenses would be suspended, we were responsible for it all according to them. That was my school tuition. I feel we are owed at least half of them back. The $20 fines each is excessive. Amy

A student of mine in college, had no Ipass (claims she did not know she needed one), she recieved the bill one year later, same as in other stories I read here, Fines of $3000 !!!, she went to court, according to her they denied a settlement of payment???, they gave her 2 weeks to pay, she was not able, so the fine went up. She is facing a suspension of her liscense, and the possibility of not making it to my class anymore. Is there anything she could do?, beautifull system, thank you Ipass...

so people use the i-pass lanes and don't know what they are? Do they think it is for people who don't want to pay tolls?

we got a ticket once from southern Illinois(in the mail) and guess what??? The plate they showed was on our truck which hadn't moved in about 1 year due to broken transmission etc. The ticket was dated for a few weeks earlier from when we got it!!! They also darken out the picture so you cant see the vehicle only the plates!! It's a joke but not a funny one.I also got a letter in the mail from a lawyer suing us for hitting parked cars in Chicago etc. with a vehicle we sold about 5 years before!!! Turns out the co. who we traded our car in to, whom said they would dispose of the plates for us...didnt or someone took them out of the dumpster etc. We were cleared but what a lesson...TAKE OFF YOUR PLATES AND DISPOSE OF THEM YOURSELF!!

I feel sorry for those who find themselves in this situation, but if you keep your IPASS up to date, and make sure they have an email address on the account they WILL email you and tell you when your card expires. When you get rid of a car, or get a new one, be sure to go onto the account and update it.
And to the person who thought they didnt need an IPASS.. come on!? you are kidding right? How could you even think that!??? There are signs all over the place. That is no different than parking without paying the meter and then bitching because the meter maid gave you a parking ticket!
YES, the management company screwed up and did not mail out fines, but if you legally had an IPASS and you call them they will fix it. They even gave you an 'out' if you didnt have an IPASS, find a family member who is willing to allow you to use their IPASS and they will charge the tolls (without the fines!) to that family members account.
If you didn't have an IPASS and tried to scam the system... well thats why they call them fines, because you broke the law. I know at least one person that did that.. she happily drives through and her excuse was, "well they havent sent me anything yet". That is just plain ignorant, and she will soon be one of those that gets a $3000 bill in the mail and will be crying about how they are so unfair.

, I just get one too. Does anybody know any attorney that can handle this kind of case? Please reply here, thank you. Chicago Chris wrote: I have just got a letter saying I owe $989 in fines. Apparently my IPASS was not auto replenishing for the past 12 months (due to me getting a new debit card -- in which I forgot to transfer the new card # to the auto-replensish account) AND NOW I FINALLY GET A LETTER 12 months later.......how can this be fair ? I'm willing to pay some of these fines...but it seems they "posture themselves and WAIT" until the bill gets big...like mine. IS THERE ANYWAY TO LEGALLY CUT THESE FEES? THAT IS TOTALLY UNFAIR THAT THEY WAITED 12 MONTHS LATER TO SEND ME A LETTER OF THESE FINES. I'M SURE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS THESE ISSUES.... P.S. IS THERE A LAWYER I CAN CALL...OR A LOOP HOLE TO STAND ON. HELP !!!!!! Chris
