I just bought an '88 turbo coupe and it runs great! The only problem is when I put pedal down more than 1/2 way the boost gauge goes to 5 psi then car starts to "shutter". It runs extremely smooth at 5 lbs and under but anything over 5lbs not so good. What is the problem? The guy I bought it from said to do a tune-up but why would this effect the turbo? Any answers would greatly be appreciated. Thanks
Change all of your ignition parts should fix the problem

I have an 87 2.3 turbo coupe that I just picked up on. I am having a problem with the electric fuel pump in the tank not receiving any power with the switch turned on or in the cranking position. I have also checked the inertia switch and it is in the correct position. I think that I have found the fuel relay but with out a good schematic it is hard to tell. If anybody has any ideas or has a good schematic I could track this problem down. Thank You. Kempkes@msn.com
Try reset switch in the trunk. Closing the lid to hard will cause it to trip. this is a rear in collision pump shut off.

Switch in the trunk reset. There is a rear in collision switch that shuts of fuel pump. Closing lid to hard will trip this switch.S mall hole in cover, insert finger push down.

Cannot get the primary cooling fan to cycle on and off on my 1988 T-bird Turbo Coupe. The fan operates when hot wired and I have replaced the relay. Still no luck. Thanks for any suggestions on what the problem may be.

Just bought an 88 turbo coupe, decent shape other then it has sat for a while. Seems to run ok but would use a tune up, 102K original miles. Does decent other then at higher rpm/boost the engine starts to ping, I am running premium, what could the problem be?

I have a stock 87 turbo coupe with Aod transmission the only thing not stock is a k&n filter, I just bought the car for 1800 dollars and so when it starts the engine almost sounds if it wants to shut off, maybe a mass air flow sensor? Let me know your opinions on what it might be

I have an 88 Turbo Coupe that I just did an engine swap on. The engine cranks and occasionaly tries to start but never does. I have checked the timing and it is at 10-12 degrees btc without the plug in on the side of the distributor. I do not have a fuel pressure guage but there seems to be plenty of pressure at the fuel rail when i depress the shrader valve gas sprays out vigorously. I am detecting fire with my timing light on number one, that is how I determined I was properly timed, of course I did the preliminary timing with the cam gear and the crankshaft, i am referring to adjusting the timing after I cranked the car over. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

i have a 88 thunderbird tubo coupe that my grandpa gave me when he passed away and it sat for about 7 years till i got my license, but it will barley keep idle without giving it gas, we have replaced the EGR valve, we set the fuel preasure right. we have set the timeing over and over again. we tried to advance the timing to 12degres but that does not help. so we put it back to 8degres. any ideas will help please and thankyou.i really just want this back to the orginal way it uste to be. i remember when i was like 10 i wasnt able to lift my head off the seat when my grandpa stomped on it.
