My girlfriend's mom has a 2002 Taurus,(I do not know the trim package,) her driver door will not unlock when using the key fob. All of the other will. I am guessing that it is the actuator. I was curious to know if anyone else was having this problem, but I see not. I am wondering if this is a do it yourself job, or should I ask...... how hard of a job is it? I see the actual part on the internet is a reasonable priced part. Could it be something else creating the problem? You can reach me at GJGlen@Cox.net

Also, a week or so ago our driver side heated seat stopped working. You press the button and the 2 indicator lights turn on for about 1 second, then immediately turn off. The passenger side seat warmer works just fine.

Same problem on a 2008 Taurus X. Doors unlock themselves and lights turn on in wet/damp/foggy weather. What receives the signal from the buttons on the key fob? Is it the key pad on the driver's door, or some other part on board the vehicle?
Finally took it to the local Ford dealer. He replaced p/n 5F9Z-19A434-A harness that attaches to the keyless entry keypad. That was 4-months ago and the problem hasn't reappeared. No visible damage apparent on the old harness.

I haven't 03 ford taurus. When I hit my power lock button only the rear doors unlocked. You can't even feel the solenoid working on the front doors. I am a locksmith so I am educated somewhat in this issue. So when I use the remote the front doors won't unlock nor will the trunk open. I don't see both actuators and trunk actuator going out all at the same time. Normally you feel a vibration of the cylinoide trying to work these don't. Back doors open just fine with this remote pop up and down. Somebody help me figure this out.

I had a problem with my 98 Ford Taurus...the autolock feature when you move the car no longer worked...I was told replace part (dealer part and expensive) here's what worked for me (after a call to my big bother, who can diagnose my car just by the sounds I make over the phone to him) ...get a can of brake cleaner (I got the non chlorinated), the spray stuff with the plastic extender (like the ones that come on wd-40 cans)...not brake fluid, brake parts cleaner....spray it into the lock jamb, all around...the switch or whatever is probably gunked up...just did it on mine, light in dash saying myn= door is ajar is now off, and the locks work perfectly now when I take off...

Hi Zubin,

You experienced the same problem as we did with our 1998 Ford Escort. Upon hitting the unlock button on the remote all 4 door locks would move up slightly but as far up as it should. Since I thought this could lead to something potentially worse I called the service of alocksmiths Barkngside- who were local to me. Within 20mins they arrived at my house where the car was. The guy did a professional but yet, simply job and simply loosen the hinges inside the door card to allow for better movement and all was back to normal. They didn't charge much because it was a small job and I respected his honesty for that. He did say that if the problem comes back I could repeat what he just did or give him a call and he'll be over in a few minutes.

The locks were repeatedly unlocking themselves so I removed the fuse (fuse #17) to disable, but then the lights would come on and go off by themselves (I originally thought my lights were coming on and going off by themselves due to the door lock issue). Anyway, replacing p/n 5F9Z-19A434-A did the trick for my 2008 Ford Taurus X. I tried to replace it on my own, but I was unable to remove the plastic anchors from the old switch and install the new switch in the same routing pattern that the old switch was in. I was uncomfortable taking off the metal plate inside the door panel to gain the access I needed to do this. I tried to rig the new switch in there not anchoring it with the plastic anchors, but I couldn't keep it out of the way of the window when I rolled the window down. So I had a local garage install it for me. The part was ~$30 and the install was ~$70.

I recently got a 2004 Ford Taurus without a wireless remote. I purchased an OEM on-line. The programming instructions do not work. It says that the "door locks will cycle to confirm programming" and that does not happen. I also noticed that the locks will not "automatically" lock when I put it in gear and start driving. The locks work fine other than that. What can I check?

Did you replace the lock actuators yourself? And how much did it cost?

Alright you are all stupid. Look it up on YouTube. Replace your lock actuator on the doors that don't work. That's the only problem. And no grease will not fix it. There is a little metal plate inside a motor in your actuator the just stops conducting electricity and unless your very skilled at this and can manage to take apart your solenoid and put it all back together without ruining it, then I suggest you just replace it. This is one of the many common problems with the tauri. As well ass a leaking timing chain cover, yes that means you're leaking coolant. And as well as noisy tierods
tierods.

You have some major wiring issues with youtlr car and if I where you I'd get the to a dealer or professional as fast as possible before your taurus goes up in flames.
