To OUT2C: You are correct about the Repair Bulletin. But I will try to fill in the blanks. First we removed the windshield wipers. Then the vent plate along the bottom of the windshield. The fresh air vent is located on the passenger side at the starting of the firewall. The Top Hat cover mounts over the vent. We used silicon to mount and seal the new Top Hat in place. This does not allow water now flow into the vent. Replaced the vent plate and wipers and the project was complete. I hope this helps with your installation. Sincerely with no more leaks, Randy M.

Say gang, I purchased the rubber strip that fits along the outer lip of the rain hat and put silicon sealer in the rectangular hole on the cowl. No moisture and no soggy mats.

Now on another note: My 96 Town Car Signature series alerted me to check the air suspension. I had just redone the Mass Air Sensor, the crank shaft sensor, the idle sensor, the Intake manifold, and thought I was home free.

I was livid. I went to a repair place who wanted to charge me 78 bucks to do a diagnostic test.
I went to Auto Zone and they told me they do not have equipment or parts to replace Air Suspension systems.

The wife said, "Maybe a fuse is blown". Yeah right babe.

Well I checked and dang iffen she warnt right.

Back on the road and ridin hot.

FORD = Fix Or Repair Daily This is a pain. The only reason we have this vehicle is because it was a company car. This car was usually garaged during the day and evening. It is only now that it was out in the rain in the past year that we see a leak in the passenger side. What in the world is that? Does anyone know a number to the Ford Customer Service? Any other ideas on solving the leaking problem. DONT BUY A FORD!

Hey Hollis, go to Ford and pay 250. bucks and they will fix it. Or you can do it your self for 32 bucks and some silicon sealant.

The folks at Ford will give you a print out of just how to go about it.

FMC ph# is 800-392-3673, and GOOD LUCK! Have your VIN ready...they won't speak to you otherwise. The TSB for this problem is 04-15-3 and only apply's to 2001-2003 models. If your car does not qualify, they can only "document your concerns". May I suggest going to page 2 to the posting from Susan, July 20. She has the link to file a complaint. This should be a RECALL. It has been a problem on the last 2 body styles. Keep me posted...

I got the same BS from JC Lewis Ford in Savannah,
So I bought the weather strip for 32 bucks and installed it myself. Anyway regarding the silent recall, thats what this lawyer in Jersey called it.
Ford played another slide from under play.
Happy soggy mats.
OleBillin, Can you tell me where the weatherstrip goes. My dealer can't/won't provide a print-out on the instructions & 3 Ford Reps gave me 3 different answers on where it goes. Thanks, out2c

EVERYONE -NEEDS TO FINE A COMPLAINT on the DMV website WITH THE (National Highway Traffic Safety Admin). See the following informative posting from someone else:
I have a 03 Taurus which leaked water onto the passenger floor board also causing my AC Blower motor to short out. I could not get Ford to act even though a related recall existed under 03V087000.
I have found many others with this problem. Together we can force Ford to recall/fix the problem. If enough people with the same problem file the complaint, NHTSA will force Ford to comply with their own existing recall or actually extend an EXISTING recall under 03V087000.
Here is what you need to do:
1. Call NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 or go to http://www.nhtsa.gov/
2. File your complaint, have your VIN ready and dates of problems (if possible)
3. While filing your complaint reference recall number 03V087000 AND my complaint 10184014. This will show a continuing trend.
4. If your water leak problem also resulted in a shorted out AC blower motor, make sure you mention this as well.
5. Once you have filed, please e-mail me at williamford61hotmail.com and give me your complaint number. I intend to compile all complaints which will prove the problem is widespread.
Do it and together this will get fixed!

This priblem has just started in my 97 taurus. I almost hate to admit that I like my ford but I do.I know that other cars and other companies have there problems as well. I just have to keep telling myself this. Anyways back to this water leak that is coming through the blower motor housing , the resistor and the wires that connect to it. If your having problems with your blower, mainly the different speeds its probably because water leaks in through the cabin filter and buggered up your resistor.Same thing could also bugger up your blower motor. Watch for water on the floor on the passenger side. This will save you hundreds. Now I have to fix the leak. This is where the big problem lies. I think there is a repair kit but I cannot find one any where. I sure would like to know where to apply some silicone. Anyone figure this one out yet? PLEASE share it with the rest of us. THANKS.

I had the same problem with my '03 Taurus. After reading all of these posts and a few our sites, I was able to order parts and fix it one weekend. Not a single leak! Thanks everyone, you saved me money!
