During design the engineers said they had come up with a reliable cruise control and the bean counters said: "Make it $5 cheaper."

Please.
Are you talking about the Engineering department or upper management? All American cars are engineered ground up to be as profitable and low cost as physically possible. Just built well enough to get it through the warranty period and nothing more. I am not bashing Ford, I drive one so I know what I am talking about.

Let me guess, you are over 50? The only thing I am ashamed of is that the greatest nation on earth can't compete in the global automobile market place. Too busy trying to figure out how to maximize profit instead of how to built a cost effective vehicle that will last past its warranty period.

LOL! I've never bought a "Forked Over Rebuilt Dodge" because of their notorious electrical and transmission problems and every Mopar product I've ever bought had bad electrical problems.

So with that said, the ONLY conclusion I can come up with is,,,

Mopar and Ford = Big Electrical Troubles

In all fairness it should be noted that there are millions of Fords still on the road today and have been for many years. Unfortunately, that's where they broke down.

I still like Ford's because beyond these issues, they still build one of the most reliable brake and airbag systems on the road today.
