The latest version of the Ford Mustang appears to be growing old. The new Mustang, which made its debut in the fall of 2004, has been a bright spot for Ford at a time when bright spots have been few.

There are several freshen up versions of the Mustang out there, in particular the Flashback 69 package offered by Made In Michigan. It takes the car to a muscular 1969 look.

Ford is alienating many perspective buyers like me. I refuse to pay a dealer markup over manufacturer's price. This "limited edition" stuff has gone too far. Mid/late 60s valuable hot rods were not limited editions by the manufacturers...but only because the buyers did'nt want to pay extra to the manufacturers. The dealers did not mark up these cars over invoice. I wanted to buy a Shelby GT 500 but refuse to pay that much profit to the dealer. If the manufacturer would have set the price that high I could be assured it would hold its value because when demand fell the manufacturer would stop making it. The manufacturer should be making these profits....not the dealer who holds the car hostage on EBay. Now the bullet is going to be a limited production too (500 cars) in an attempt to get customers to pay over invoice. Chrysler did it with the Chargers and pissed people off...and only a few suckers bought the Super Bee for over sticker. Nope...I'm done. I'm already on the waiting list for a 09 Camaro ragtop with a deposit at the dealer. Ford would be smart to follow suit but its obvious they will not. They are already complaining about a 19% drop in sales and they can't see the handwriting on the wall. Build it and they will come....build it for rich collectors only and you will chase away all your normal buyers who actually want to own a car and drive it.
