Wrong. Do the math. Premium versus regular. My car runs regular, has a 16 gallon tank. I get about 15 mpg in the city. I run premium and get 17 mpg in the city.
A 16 gallon tank cost 44.80 to fill at 2.80 a gallon for regular. I go 240 miles. Roughly 19 cents a mile
A 16 gallon tank cost 49.60 to fill at 3.10 a gallon for premium. I go 272 miles. Roughly 18 cents a mile and 32 miles further.
So is regular really a bargain? I'll pay the extra 4.80 to go another 32 miles. Of course your mileage may vary based on your driving habits. But the oil companies know that pay me now or pay me later still apply.

Extra cost hides inside fuel door
After you check out the cup holders in the new car you're shopping for, take a look inside the fuel-filler door.

Don't you get the point. Automakers are in cahoots with the oil companies, they always have been, why do you think the majority of automobiles average 300 mile per tank? That is not a coincidence, it's deliberate.
