if you are having trouble with your vechile starting in cold weather regardless of make or model you can have a block heater plug installed(note you will have too be albe too plug into a extention cord)

Can anyone help me out with this? The gear shift on my automatic 2000 Ford Focus keeps getting stuck in park. The car will turn on, but the gear shift won't move out of park. Then all of a sudden, after restarting the car over and over again, the gear shift will suddenly move easily, as if nothing were wrong. It isn't getting stuck in any other gears, just park. At first it would only happen occassionally, but it's become more and more frequent. Yesterday, it took me a half an hour to get the gear shift to move.
in all new cars they install safety shift mec. near the back of your brake pedal make sure its connected good and make sure you are pressing the brake pedal before trying too changes the gears

My 2000 Focus SE has been a terrific car. I now have 123,000 miles on it and ony had to repace the ignition switch. Recent ly I have been experiencing a terrific vibration when starting the car in cool weather or for a short time when parked over night. As the engine warms up the vibration intensity decreases. My mechanic has shecked the harmonic balancer, transmission mounts and engine mounts and says that they are OK.install a block heater
What is my next step
install a block heater

I have a 2002 ford focus and it won't drive longer than 45 mins. In the summer when it's hot it will turn over but will not start. After the weather cools down we come back and it starts right up. Ford said it might be the fuel pump. We had that replaced and it still did the same thing. Then Ford said that there were two parts to the fuel pump one of which we didn't replace. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions or ideals?

looking at a friends 2002 ford focus, manual transmission...she says that her car will not crank, at all the lights and radio work, i was thinking that the ignition cylinder was bad or the battery did not have enough cranking amps, anyone know how close i am , if im even close at all?? oh, also she has some kind of gps thing in her car, which can shut off her car if she dosent pay the bill, she told me that they did a check on that and it was good, im perplexed

Gordon, I have a similar problem, when I'm driving the battery light randomly comes on and goes out and has been doing so for a couple months and more often recently, but it seemed to have no effect on driving the car until last night when every electronic thing in my car failed one by one on the way home and my engine cut off when I was almost home.
Now I have to wait at least an hour before starting it and when it idles it gets rough and everything dies one by one just like last night. I suspect the alternator but I have no idea what's going on.

I have a 2001 Ford Focus ZX3. The check engine light comes onwhen I first start it up and it sometimes will not shift (automatic) from 1st to 2nd gear. Once it warms up ( about a mile down the road) the light goes out and it shift into 2nd gear. Can someone help a guy out "what"'s the matter with my baby.

Do you get an Engine Check Light ? My Grandson has a 2003 ZX3 that has a very similar problem. So far, it looks like the ECM (Computer Module). If you have A/C, check to see if the compressor runs when you turn the A/C on.

After it warms up, verify the fans are running and if not, the problem is nearly identical.

I have the same problem, replaced starter twice, starter relay, key switch, starter wires to battery, new battery, transmission range sensor and the only things left to try are the theft key sensor in the steering column (PATS?) and the signal wiring harness! Let me know what you find...

i have just recently changed my spark plug wires on my 2002 ford focus, and now it's misfiring. I have been looking for a diagram which shows the numbering sequence for the spark plugs, but I can't seem to find one. Can anybody help me with this?
