A couple of months ago my dash lights started going out. It may happen when I start the car or after I'm 20 miles down the road. It now happens everytime I go somewhere with the lights on. Everything else works fine.

If the dashboard lights come back on when you jiggle the dashboard dimmer switch then that switch might be the problem.

I have a 2003 Ford Focus ZX3 which has the same intermittent dashboard light problem. I have to turn off the lights to reset something, after which the dash lights return for anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. Has anyone figured out how to repair this?

I fixed this issue by working on the wiring harness and the light switch.

I have the same problem with the same car. It was fixed in September, but now it started happening again. If I hit the dashboard, the lights will sometimes come back on. It has just happened twice and I'm hoping it won't continue. In the past, it got worse and worse. Sounds like a problem with this particular model.

I am having the same problem with my 2006 Hyundai Tucson. Speedometer alcove lights blink off, then stay off for indefinite amount of time. Completely erratic -- no apparent rhyme or reason. The next time I start up the vehicle, they're back on again for no particular amount of time, then go off again. Has NO ONE found a cause or fix to this?(My Hyundai service techs are baffed...)

thnx,
Jenn

This happened to me,(I drive a 2000 Focus) only my headlights would go out as well. I took it to a mechanic, and they traced it to some wires on the left side of the trunk door.$200 for some electrical tape...and it wasn't gold plated! Hope this helps!
