This story is very instructive...and while you're in Mexico buying gas, check out all the pirated DVD's, CD's and software that the Mexican officials allow to be peddled in every corner of the barrios. This is the great legacy of NAFTA--cheap gas for mexicans while they steal intellectual property rights from U.S. citizens. Clinton-Bush regurgitated ad nauseum..........

Gary wrote: <quoted text> Thanks for spreading unture propaganda about Tijuana. I have been there many times and there is no WAR going on there anyone with any brain knows its much safer then even the white gated community you probably live in at San Diego. You cant even compare the crime rate because over all its almost non-existant to any US city no matter how small. And the cops over here are not corrupt?? Come on!The quality of gas is the same so if you live in San Diego go to Tijuana to fill up no reason not to just go later at night if your worried about the long lines plus there is no extra Paperwork at the border Drivers Lisence are still accepted as ID until June 2009.Look it up its true. No I dont work for the Tijuana Chamber of Commerce and I am not even Mexican I am white I just cant stand when people prepetuate stereotypes about a place that is just not true people read that and think thats what its like over there when its not. TJ safe as a baby's dirty diaper, if I had a buck for everyone who has been robbed or shaken down in TJ I would be ok paying $10 a gallon.... but inr eality we need to just jack up the food we export, how about GRAINPEC- US, Canada, Austrailia all togther to make a food cartel...bet the CHinese & Ruskies would luv that~!!

Nedly Mandingo wrote: <quoted text>Right you are not all that smart on this issue, you see there are other countries that produce grain, and only OPEC nations produce significant quantities of OIL, Farm equipment can't run on water, neither can our cars or the millions of other things that are derived from oil. Grain can be purchased from anywhere, and is heavily subsidized in production. If it costs OPEC nations more to buy our grain they will simply reduce production of oil causing it to double in price. Oil is not an overflowing commodity, it is also a very delicate one. Due to the fact that so many of the OPEC nations, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Libya, Algeria, Nigeria, Angola, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Indonesia. are under constant turmoil politically it does not take much to throw the production out of wack and cause a price surge, that compounded with our lack of sufficient quality refineries puts us in an even more delicate position. Refineries need to be shut down for maintenance they have accidents and weather is also a factor. To put it in simple terms NIMBY on refinery and lack of domestic oil = U.S. at the mercy of OPEC. OPEC nations don't like us so they will not do anything to help us. It is actually very simple if you do any kind of research. NEDLY- OPEC controls the price of oil by its verynature, US Oil Co., sold mmost of the reeinferies to OPEC members, despite all these claims its the environmentalizt fault, the oil co. have no incentive to build more refieries, look how much more profit they are making on the refining end now!!! They only this year applied to build a new refinery- heck here in CA SHell just proposed to shut one down....they were not allowed to & had to sell, they would close them all down, would make gas $24 a gallon & geesh look at the profit Exxon would make @ that level....

It's quite ironic.
If people want to take the risk and go to Mexico for cheaper gas, then go for it !
News segments have shown the lines and that some Mexican Gas Staion Owners WILL NOT sell to anyone that is not a regular customer or have California plates !
Imagine if the USA decided to do that !! LOL
People come in the thousands from Mexico to the USA to buy cheaper goods, but, when it is switched then restrictions are started.
WOW I could actually find a parking place at the local Walmart that isn't at the edge of the car park !
