Has anyone had this problem before. Ford F350 Super Duty Dually four wheel drive not engaging. Don't think it's mechanical....I believe it's electrical. Any info would be appreciated.

Auto locking hubs ? If so, go manual from WARN. After a few years all the older fords, bout 2001 and older, from my experiance atleast, just cant pull the hubs in to lock 'em in anymore. It will still lock the transfer case in/out. You will just need to get out and lock/unlock 'em when needed.

I have an 05 f350 4x4 I had the same problem. If you have the electronic switch check the plug on the back side of the switch. Mine wasn't plugged in all the way. Good luck!

Check your vacuum pump thats located inside engine compartment, passanger side. This pump also operates your temperature control switch and it defaults to defrost mode.

My 2002 F-350 won't go into low range or back into two wheel drive. Kids turned 2wd/4wd/low switch then vehicle was driven on pavement. I checked to see If truck would shift back and forth and it did but slowly. Most driving in 2wd and when used 4wd month later. Was slow to engage and now will not dis-engage. What's broken?

Is this an actuator problem or is there likely real transfer case damage?

I just purchased a similiar truck and by coincidence I had been in nuetral with my foot on the brake in the past , then one day I was in park and nothing, stuck in 4x4 low. Came to a stop near my house in nuetral and cycled the swithc and everything is working the way it should . Hope it's that simple for you also.

Just put it in Neutral if its stuck in 4x4. And the light should go off to 2x2.

Hi all,

I have 2000 7.3 F-250, in 2005 I had to put manual locking hubs as the electronics failed. Now this year checking the rig for winter I noticed that when I put the Truck in 4wd there is a horrible grinding rubbing noise that intensifies when the truck is turned. I though I had isolated it to the drivers side hub and have since replaced it. However that has not fixed the problem. I have checked the front dif, u joints and drive shaft. Any possible ideas? Axle?

Thanks Tyler

I'm having the same problem with the 4 high. I've checked the vacuum lines and everything is fine. It will engage an lock in 4 low but not 4 high. The light on the dash comes on but no power to the front wheels without manually engaging the hubs. Any idea?

I have a 2000 f 350 with warn hubs that turn in and out just fine. Transfer case is working, light comes on, and the front drive line even turns while driving in gear. But no four wheel drive. What the heck?

2004 F350 Dash Says 4wd is on, manually locked hubs but still nothing.
Vacuum should be out of play by manually locking hubs so I need to know what to look for next.. Cannot hear transfer case turning in truck but am by myself so hard to know what is turning.
