What sucks is the way G.M. sells their options. On the standard cab pickup shown or extended cab in the articles pictures the 5.3 liter engine is the biggest engine option available, and you can't get the six speed transmission either, only a four.So if your talking about standard cab pickup gas engine the Dodge Rams 5.7 is the most powerful with a 5 speed tranny and they give you that option at no extra charge, at the moment anyway. With the G.M. you have to spend at around 35,000 or above on a Quad cab model truck even if you don't need that option before you qualify for the better engine transmission combinations that will just add more to the price.

Nobody is talking about the standard cab pickup gas engine. We are talking about the pickup truck, irrelevant of what if options. As it stands now, the most powerful pickup truck on the market is the Chevrolet Silverado regardless of configuration, end of discussion.

So why right an article about six speed transmissions with bigger more powerful engines then have pictures of standard and extended cab trucks if they are not available in those models and no one is talking about them?

I do believe the 500HP SRT Ram is the most powerful pickup truck in any configuration on the market.

They stopped building that truck years ago.

Because those are generic pictures released to the media via the web. You might want to check with Motor trend about the pictures they place in their articles.

The 403HP engine is not available in all body configurations. For a regular cab short box truck, the 5.3L is the top of the line offering. GM only offers the big engines in some of the heavy duty trucks.

What’s your point? You have to pay to play. Also, the vehicle does not have to be an HD to get the larger offering; it just needs to be a crew cab. Crew cab doesn’t = HD.

It's not really about pay to play, It's about buying for your needs,1500 crew cabs are an RV truck with short beds. They are meant for pulling campers and boats to the lake with the family. So G.M. packages the big gas engine and six speed transmission for that truck. But if you want a truck for work the crew cab is a 6000.00 expensive option to choose if you are not going to use it just to get the better drivetrain. Many buy the 8ft bed for work because you can lay 4 x 8 sheets flat in the back and shut the tailgate,It's not offered with the crew cabs.So if you are looking for a work truck, the most powerful engine or six speed transmission is irrelevent in the silverado because it's not offered.

I'd say the Duramax diesel could blow any of them away and out last them with ease. If your talking stock out of the box that's one thing, if your talking about taking the choker off these trucks then look out.

The Duramax and most are suffocating right from the manufacturer. It's the fed's way of controlling the emissions on all vehicles. I've chipped my Dura with a hypertec 3 setting option, I can't believe the power and the mileage, I load this truck with a 19 foot boat and a slip in camper and don't even know they are back there. I've ran against the Monte Carlo SS and embarrassed him, pretty fun truck for sure.

Don't know and don't care who makes the most powerful, which is abstract nonsense.

What's more pertinent is, which is the world's FASTEST !!

And yes, the record still stands.
