Chances are its like mine, I opened it and then it wouldn't close. The dealership told me the track became twisted and because I kept trying to close it, I burned out the motor. I have an 02 Eddie Bauer Expedition.

I have a 2002 expedition with a sunroof problem. Fixed it about 4 weeks ago at local dealership, opened it today and it will not close. Just spent $495.00 to fix it the last time. Not real happy with the Ford now.

Same thing, 01 Eddie Expedition. Opened fine. Now it only moves forward about 2-3 inches and then stops. Service King said they think it is a module or regulator, motor seems to be good.
Anyone else had this as the diagnoses on theirs once it got to the service station?

Does anyone know if there is a manual override to open/close the sunroof?

My 2001 Ford Expedition Moon Roof will not close. Motor is fine but I believe it has something to do with the track. A friend is coming over to drop my headliner to take a look at it.
Does anyone know what side (driver or passenger) the motor is on so he can disconnect and manually close? He doesn't want to take both sides of the headliner down.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There is a way to close the moonroof manually.
I have a 97 expedition.
There is a panel in the roof in the back seat where you would "think" a flip down DVD player would go.
This panel just pulls down on one side and slides out at a 45 where it hooks on the inside of the headliner.
There is a hex hole (I had one) and a 1/4 drive wrench or bit driver. Just turn this and you will see the moonroof close or open. I have done this and no leaks.

I hope this helps--

Ok after partially taking headliner down I decided since there were broken pieces in the rail I had to completely take headliner out to see what problem was now I'm a novice mechanic and I still never seen the cause of the problem but thanks to dad helping it was done in a timely manner of about an hour cleaned broken pieces out of rail used Allen wrench to move it forward about 5 inches and switch then would work and haven't had any probkems....it helps to have a good partner to mimic what your doing thanks for all the help guys tool recommendation helped and I wasn't completely blind...and thanks dad for all the help..lol
