SSL wrote: <quoted text> I have a 1999 Expedition, same exact problem. Shop "fixed" it last year by replacing thermostat, but guess what, this winter same problem. I searched as much as I could to find the real problem and I found a posting somewhere. Follow these directions BEFORE the shop tears out your dashboard! I followed it and it worked perfectly!! My cost= Nothing Your cost = Nothing!! Good luck. FROM A FELLOW OWNER, HE WRITES: "Okay, I just had the same problem(rear heat only, none up front even though it blows air fine), I managed to luck my way through it and get it fixed! Here's what I did: It happened to me during cold weather and I figured it was due to contraction or friction of something. So I drove it for a while until it was good and heated up, heating the inside as well with the rear heat until the whole rig was warm and toasty. During that time I had the FRONT temp selector on warm - BUT NOT ON. After the whole car was heated up and very warm, I went ahead and turned on the front selector to AC - and slowly turned the temperature knob to cold, giving the "flap" a chance to return to the cold side and everthing worked great.(AC was blowing cold that is - no heat yet.) After a few seconds with the AC fully kicked in up front - I turned off the AC and set it to one of the regular vent settings - and turned the front temperature selection back to hot, and viola, it started blowing hot air again! Everything seems to be working fine at this point. The only other note I'd add was that as I was turning the temperature switch to cold to for the AC, I felt a little glitch in the knob as I was turning it - like something was getting un-stuck... so you might turn that knob slowly/carefully and perhaps go back and forth a couple of times if it doesn't work on the first try. I was also prepared to try this whole thing on a bumpy gravel road if necessary - so you might give that a try!" This guys deserves a hand, because tons of people have this problem and shops are stealing $$$. Its in the front switch not the thermostat. I pulled the switch cover off with a pair of needle nosed pliers and turned the knob and it works like a charm.

Santo wrote: how to take door panel off Remove the small cover where the mirror is remove screw. Then remove the cover where your door lock and window lever is remove the screw. Pop out the plastic around the door lever there should be a screw there if not just lift up and the door panel should pop off. Watch the light at the bottom, once you get the panel off twist the light then the panel is completely off. Good Luck

My 1998 Eddie Bauer temperature jumps to the red after driving for a couple of minutes and then the oil light-lights up, stays in the red zone for about 3-5 seconds then drops back down to normal and stays at normal. Does anyone know whats going on? Everything else is fine, no funny smell and runs smoothly except for that problem. Can anyone help?

eddie did you ever figure out your heater problem, i have the same problem and still can't find a solution. eddie figueroa wrote: <quoted text>i have the same problem, the only thing is if we put it on low,you feel a little heat and when we put it on med. or high it blows cold.i was told it was the heater core, but, when we dismantled the dam dash-every-screw imaginable(no kidding, ithink ford was a little excesive with the screws)the heater core was very hot.we checked the vaccum hoses but, they seem fine, new thermostat,i'm thinking of adding an electric heater till the summer,if anyone knows about this problem for a 1999 expedition, please, please, share your wisdom with me..thanks..allentown,pa.

HMIRELES wrote: Terrific Vehicle, 6 month old battery. Ran fine 1 hour and the next nothing. I can't lock the doors. No computer light, for that matter no interior lights, period. Put the key in the ignition, turn it, put the automatic transmission lever at neutral and wait...it will start if you wait long enough. Power seems to surge and then decrease at times to a full stall. It felt like at one point, after driving it for about ten minutes, that while idiling in a parking lot the power level decreased temporarily like it wanted to stall. Anyone have this problem before, I take it to dealer and they think they have a dumb blonde, that they can take advantage of? Any ideas would be appreciated. I have never had any problems with this truck and it has a little more than 65k miles. Sounds like the alternator is going out, the question needs to be asked; is there any aftermarket accessories?? This could be a contributing factor

My 1998 Ford Expedition has a rear load leveling suspension problem. The leveler raises and lowers ALL the time even when not necessary. Much of the time the rear of the vehicle is all the way down. The switch that turns the leveling system on and off has already been replaced. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem? Thanks
