My 2004 Expedition has the same fading/spider web appearance. Just spent 20 minutes on the phone with customer service. They won't replace it and wouldn't listen to my arguements that I'll never buy another Ford if they won't do anything. Much cheaper to split the cost to replace with me.

Idiots. No wonder why they're losing billions.

Mine did the same thing on all four doors. The trim looked awful, but luckily was still under warranty. A local dealer was able to replace it under warranty. Now, my driver door trim is doing it again and when I called another dealer (the one that originally fixed it is out of business), they said it would not be covered even though it was a problem that exsisted and was fixed previously under warranty. I have no idea how Ford can let this problem go on. EVERY Expedition with the plastic trim that I see around town has the same problem- how can it not be recalled??? HAS ANYONE TRIED THE ARMOR-DILLO?

I thought the fading trim was a So. Texas "thing". But looking at the responses (and states represented), It is a "Ford" thing....actually, the only ones with a problem are the Ford owners. Does anyone else have door panels that rattle at highway speeds?

Flat Gray paint will fix the problem after using the plastic prep...or you could just take them off, run them down to the body shop and have them paint the running boards to match the color of you vehicle... Ford should have taken care of the problem!

every expedition i have seen has this problem. i went to home depot and got the spray on plastix plastic coating. it is working fine but they didn't offer a matching gray. so had to go with black. still looks better than ash white.

Yep same year 04 same problem ours faded in warranty and they would only change the ones that fadded realy bad, and since then they have faded also. I wish they would recall this I am trying to sell it and its actually holding the sale up it has been problem twice. Also look at other people with the knocking air conditioning its seams odd that this many people found this random web site and have the exact same problems. If someone from ford wants to contact me please do my email address is brentstephens@ comcast. net

Hey Fellow Ford owners! Try this, go to your local Auto parts place (Petboys, etc) and buy a product called "BACK 2 BLACK". you might wanna clay bar whole car first, then wash; but before you wax, apply "BACK 2 BLACK on all areas that need to be restored, then wax whole Truck, SUV,Car using Turtle Wax's ICE. This should work; worked for me and I own a 2004 Ford Expedition.

Mine is trying to start fading, but I've been fighting it will plain ol' Armor All. I wipe all of the plastic on one side of the truck and then work the other. I then go back to the starting point and apply it more generously. It's actually hard to see the fade on my truck. But don't use STP shine stuff. I had my fading under control until I tried that cheap STP mess. Stick with Armor All. But I still may try that Armor Dillo.

I have a 98, and I haven't had any problems with the trim. but I'm think it would look good if i could replace the existing trim with Chrome. Does anyone know if this is available without doing a custom job or something?

Same problem on mine. Looks like a sunrise pattern on the molding. Called Ford argued with dealership. I tried something unconventional. I have been playing with this problem for about a year. I noticed that the film on the surface of the molding could be scratched off with my fingernail, I had the film analyzed, (I am an engineer) it is just wax formed on the surface probably due to running the truck through the Auto Car wash, however for some reason the wax sticks to the molding and dries a grey color and gets worse as the sun hits it. I decided to heat the surface up and try to melt the film. It worked great. Looks brand new.

I have a 2003 ford expedition and mine is fading to I think Ford should recall all the expedition that has this, and replace the part If they would like for people to continue to buy Ford truck that has the molder.

Thank You.

ArmorAll is a temporary fix. Makes it look like new for a little while. Mine does the same thing
