I have a 99 expedition and my door ajar sensor will not turn off once the doors are closed. This is causing my battery to die. Does anyone know how to disable that sensor or how to fix the problem?

Check ur fuel injectors using a mechanics stethescope..if u can't hear them clicking while the vehicle is running, replace them..they get gummed up with cheap gas and high mileage..

i have '99 expedition 4.6 V8. i've changed the sparkplug wires, a coil pack, egr valve within two weeks. it stills running rough. it gets worse as the truck warms up. and when goin up a hill it shakes/stutters/sputters really bad, sounds like something is backfiring underneath, and is real slow to pick up speed. the check engine light is not on. has any one ever had this problem...please tell me how you fixed it.

I own a 1999 expedetion 5.4 eddie Bauer the engine starts to jump almost resist when I Get to 40 mph to about 60 mph you can push the gas and get through it but any idea what might be causing the problem? The service engine soon light is on but engine , fluids etc are fine. I think it may be the TTC selunoid

I have a 99 expedition. In the winter the front will only blow cold and in the summer the front only blows heat. The rear works fine. Its a 99 2wd eddie bauer can anyone help
check to see if the knob you turn back and forth isnt broken that is what was wrong with my 99 and there is also a valve under the dash way up in there that can be bad and it is expensive to have replaced you have to take the console and all that out just to get to it

I have a 1999 Ford Expedition, that is stuck in 4 wheel drive. Ford wants $800 just to pull out the transfer case and take it apart to try to figure out what's wrong with it.

Have 99 Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4. Wheever it rains everything just goes haywire. Radio won;t work, wipers either don't work or only works when tranny is in P or N. also the blower kicks on when the truck is not running and the keys are not in the ignition. also, the starter tries to start the engine when it is already running. And all the dash lights stay on even after shutting off the engine and removing the keys. and the radio will come on for no reason, with the truck shut off and no keys in the ignition...please help...dealership is no help at all.
You have to get a new windshield, the gasket on the drivers side is leaking, had same problem

For the past two years my '99 Expedition has been experiencing intermittent to now frequent problems staying running. Upon initial start-up, the RPMs are around 12-15 hundred but immediately drop to 0 and the car dies. If I keep slight pressure on the gas in order to keep the RPMs high enough to keep the car running white smoke comes out of the exhaust. Eventually the car will stay running but the RPMs fluxuate dramatically just below 1000 with the interior and headlights dimming as the RPMs drop. The car has been in the shop multiple times over the past two years, but they are not able to "duplicate" the problem. The computer isn't providing any error codes either. HELP!!!
This sounds like an temperature sensor fault, or possibly another cooling system issue as stupid as this sounds. This was a common complaint on Mustangs. The computer won't throw an error code which makes it very frustrating to diagnose. It can also be real dangerous. I had to drive around with one foot on the brake, and one on the gas to not let the RPM's drop, or the engine would surge violently, and sometimes even stall making a left hand turn. The best recommendation I can suggest is to get a new sensor from the dealer (The aftermarket temperature sensors always seem out of spec and are completely plastic), install, then disconnect the battery and turn your headlight switch on to drain the caps in the computer for approx. 10 mins. hook back up, then let the vehicle idle for 15 mins. so the computer can relearn.
It seems that these temp sensors have been a problem for ford since the beginning.
I believe it is because they are in a constantly variable environment, so when they start to fail, they send extreme sweeps in the signal they send, therefore they won't always throw a code, but the computer gets tripped up trying to make radical adjustments that upset the air/fuel mix. This is why the smoke is appearing intermittently.
I hope this helps. I know it seems far fetched, but I was in the same boat. Four shops later, numerous code sweeps, and then a hunch by one mechanic solved the problem.

I have the same problem and a mecanic told me it was that box where control the temperature of the ac but its kind of expensive so I haven't tried it
I have the same problem (I also have the 1999 Eddie Bauer Edition with the 4.6L 2 wheel drive). I have heard it was the blending door but the shop wants a fortune to fix it.

Where can I find out if there have been any recalls on the 1999 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer Edition. I have had trouble with plugs and now it seems to not know when it is in park. This morning, after putting it in park it rolled forward, made a loud thud, rolled forward, made a loud thud until I pushed in the brakes. Put on the emergency brake and it still did it. When shifting in to drive it says it is in drive but when you try to go it is still in neutral. My gear shift seems extremely loose. This is only a few of the issues I have had over the past couple of years.
Look under driver's side dash, near the base of parking brake pedal locate a light reddish screw, tighten it using a flathead screwdriver. Had same problem, worked like a charm!

Try squirting some WD40 into the latching mechanism for the doors. I had a similar problem and this fixed it.
