For the past two years my '99 Expedition has been experiencing intermittent to now frequent problems staying running. Upon initial start-up, the RPMs are around 12-15 hundred but immediately drop to 0 and the car dies. If I keep slight pressure on the gas in order to keep the RPMs high enough to keep the car running white smoke comes out of the exhaust. Eventually the car will stay running but the RPMs fluxuate dramatically just below 1000 with the interior and headlights dimming as the RPMs drop. The car has been in the shop multiple times over the past two years, but they are not able to "duplicate" the problem. The computer isn't providing any error codes either. HELP!!!

Hi i'm in jacksonville fl, I have a 1999 ford exp. I've had the check eng reset four times the last time I changed I had just change out the egr valve, all 02 senors, new spark plugs, wire and coil packs changed out all the egr sensors put the battery leads back on the truck ran great for two weeks the check eng light came back on took it in to ford they at it an told me the erg valve was, I told them just change it and the parts going to it they pulled it and found nothing wrong with it they put it back on and reset the system and didn't charge me but the check eng light came back on three months and flash at some speeds, what can this be?

I have a 99 eddie baur 4x4. I am having problems with my antilock brakes just grabbing at low speeds. its like my traction control is kicking in. Anyone have any ideas? I am also trying to find out if there is some way to completely turn the 4wd off. it has the automatic.
I am having the same problem and getting help is hard to find.. The way my 99 runs is good until it warms up. I am thinking there is a link between the wheel speed sensor and the problems I am having. While driving and getting the grabbing I stopped at a carwash and sprayed down the front wheels. The grabbing went away until it warmed back up. I have not found which side is grabbing though

if you hear a hissing sound when it idles, then there is a vacuum leak. This was the issue for my sister car a couple of weeks ago. Check the house that the PCV valves connect to.

my 1999 ford expedition stalls and idels rough when engine warms up, but will start right back up. Service engine light is also on. Have changed plugs, what could be the problem.
In mine, I had to replace coil packs at the plugs. Each plug has one. I have had this happen twice and both times this was the problem. Had to replace 1 the first time and 2 the second.

Neither of my turn signals are working. It started with the right turn and now neither of them. They don't click or blink or anything. The emergency flashers are still working. Anyone had this problem or think of a possible fix. I looked for the fuse but couldn't find it and dont have the owners manual.

I also have a 99 expedition and was told the coil packs go out alot, if yours is an 8 cyl. that means you have 8 coils @ around $50 a piece. If your still having a misfire it's probably that coil pack

I had to replace like 2 in a matter of 3 or 4 months. So when they replaced the 2nd time I just had them go ahead and replace all of them. It cost a little more, but I haven't had the problem for a while now.
