1999 Ford Expedition - Car Troubles

I own a 1999 Ford Expedition - Eddie Bauer - 4 wheel drive - 5.4 Liter:

I am having trouble passing emmissions. My car is also "lurching" when I start to go or hold it at a constant speed (especially 35 mph). I have also noticed pinging. I just had to replace the battery (not sure for what reason, old or what). If anyone has any suggestions as to what this could be or if you have had this problem I would really appreciate a response! Thanks!!

PS - one of the emmission codes suggested EGR valve and said catalyst system not ready...

my 1999 ford expedition stalls and idels rough when engine warms up, but will start right back up. Service engine light is also on. Have changed plugs, what could be the problem.

I have a 1999 ford expedition. The headlights one night unexpectedly wouldn't turn on when i turned the switch on, but my bright lights and my fog lights work. I really could use some help on what i should do becuase i don't want to waste money on buying something that i don't need. Thanks

check trouble codes, you can purchase a relitively inexpesive one at your local parts house, most of your larger stores will check it for you ( they want to sell you the part(s))
Don't just trow parts at your vehicle just because someone tells you it is this or that! It sounds like sparkpug wires, but you can't be sure w/o checking it out first. If all else fails, go back to basics, and get ahold of a flow chart for that vehicle. good luck

After you make changes and the check engine light is ON you must reset the computer. unplug the batter and turn on the headlights. let sit for 10 minutes to fully drain the capacitors in the computer module. Then hook back up the batter (turn off your headlights too first). Then start the vehicle. let IDLE for 10-15 minutes the computer has to relearn the proper air/fuel mix for changed parts. then test drive it! good luck!

i have a 99 ford expiditiong duel exaust and when i drive it then park it for an hour or so when i start it back up the exaust smokes but only then after its been drove and parked a few....
