2003 Ford Expedition skids when turn in either direction....

I have a 2003 Ford Expedition and when I turn it either left or right (especially to the right side) it seems like it is skiding. In reality it does not but I can feel the very obvious skiding vibration. I took it to a couple of mechanics who told me that it could be my CV shafts (both sides) as there is some play in it. However, the CV boots are just fine and there are no tears or damage to any of them. They gave me an estimate of about $650 to replace both of them but before I spend that kind of money I just want to be sure this is indeed the problem. Any help will greatly be appreciated.
