Moron! So I should have blind loyalty to American cars?? Good logic! I used to adhere to the buy American car crap, but it got to expensive with the cars falling apart(I drive 40,000 miles a year). Now I buy Toyota vehicles, guess what? the cost of operating a car came way down. So go ahead keep getting ripped off in the name of buying American. When the American car companies start putting a good value out on the road I may start looking at them.Japanese make cars here BUT the PROFIT from those vehicles goes to Japanese companies.
Years ago Lee Iaccoca noted Chrysler made the Mitsubishi Eclipse and the Plymouth Laser at the SAME PLANT in Illinois, HOWEVER people WOULD NOT BUY the Plymouth Laser just because it had a USA name on it. It was the same car as the Eclipse!!
A close friend of mine bought an expensive Honda last summer. The first time he used it the clutch failed and he had to return it for repair. The dealer told him it was lucky the handle didn't break as most of them do. The dealer was OUT of the Handle that broke off there were so many failures.
The Honda buyer is really irritated as he paid twice the money for the Honda!
The above are 2 examples of blind brand loyalty!!
There are a lot of very ignorant people in the good old USA!!
Their ignorance cost a lot of Americans their jobs!!
Very sad!

Are you that dense?? I posted the facts and you are too stupid to comprehend. Ford does build a few in Mexico but for the most part all their vehicles are built in the USA, I posted a list moron. It is just unbelievable how stupid Americans really are. No wonder this country is in trouble. And again your wrong, the Corolla is made in Canada dick lick..Japan builds more than half their cars in Japan, but you are worried about a couple of cars made in Mexico??? You better check your head dopey.. |

I was out west when it was announced the Ranger plant was closing. Noticed the Ford ADs never mentioned the Ranger.
They arn't advertising it so no wonder why it doesn't sell.. |
The Ranger is up 7.9% March of 07 the Ranger posted 7,989 units March of 08 the Ranger posted 8,620 units Every month the Ranger is gaining sales, I cannot belive that they will discontniue the Ranger. It is getting close to catching the Toyota Tacoma in Sales. |

You couldn't get me behind the wheel of a Ford let along a POS Ranger if you handed me the keys to a brand new one. I worked in a garage all through college - I know what to expect with a Ford (if they could build a transmission or chassis that was worth more than $5 they might convince me otherwise). As for GM, I've owned several, and with the exception of my current car (only has 120K) all have made it to well over 200K without major repairs. It probably helps that I take very good care of the things I own and maintain them well. Other than that, the only other brand I've owned is Audi, which lasted 300K.
It blows my mind how many people just "turn the key and drive;" neglecting their vehicles for which they've paid thousands. |
Maybe people who buy Japanese vehicles know they are risking their reputation when they buy from across the pond. And maybe they take real good care of their Japanese vehicle so they last longer. It seems to me most people who drive Japanese cars drive them a lot slower than USA cars, I know I pass a lot of them in my Cirrus.
I do know a guy who bought a brand new high end Honda last summer and the first day a handle fell of and then the dealer told him there is another item that WILL fail, so much so that the dealer was out of the part. He was lucky that didn't fail. He paid like 40% more for the Honda and was really p-i-s-s-e-d off. There are a lot of college people who buy Japanese vehicles and they tend to have LARGE EGOs and don't like it when what they buy fails and they have to admit it. So lots of those people will NEVER admit they bought a car that failed. That is NO LIE they are so ego-testicle they NEVER admit they made a mistake, you have met those kinds of people. The Ranger has NEVER been recalled, or so they say. ==========

Thousands of people post stories of their Ford Rangers with over 200k and still going, you cannot say that about the S-10 Chevy. The S-10 is the biggest piece of crap ever made. You cannot even find one on the road, wounder why?? Ford sells over 50,000 trucks a month and has led in sales for 31 years. You have no idea what you are talking about.. |
I have owned a driven many vehicles, Fords, GM, Chrysler, Toyota, Mazda, Datsun; took care of all of them and they all lasted well into the 100Ks at a minimum and some went 200K+, I think a lot has to do with how people drive and how they maintain their cars. I couldn't say one was better than the other. However, I do agree that the US has become a nation of consumers, maybe we should just stick to manufacturing food, cotton and tobacco. And if labor costs are too high, why don't the Big Three build factories in Costa Rica or something?

So, all you "Buy Ford and GM people cause it keeps the money local, are you also out there ONLY shopping at Target, cause it keeps the money in Minnesota? Same concept, by your thinking. Hopefully, you aren't shopping hellholes like WalMart (money to Arkansas or off-shore account). I hope you buy all electronics at Best Buy, and not any other places where the money isn't kept in Minnesota.
I'd rather go to Target then Wally-World and Best Buy over Circuit City for certain electronics, them being MN companies is a bonus. I buy and like vehicles that put a smile on my face everytime I drive'em...no brand loyalty, othen then porsche |

You and your Ford belt buckle are pretty tight together, huh? I'm just speaking from my personal experiences, which with Ford, have been utter crap. And I know what I'm talking about - I used to wrench while in school for a better career. |
Scott, by Built Ford Tough standards, you are un-American, buying that fine German Auto engineering. Hee hee, I'm with you. I love an Audi S8 or Porsche Carerra 4S Turbo. Purrrrr!!!!
The 997 and 996 turbo cabriolet...wow..some day!!!! Anything Audi S or RS :) A5 and S5 at auto show, loved it! |
Is that Minne Pearl or Pearl Bailey you are talking about? |
Scott, I like the way you think.
Agreed! And if I could afford one I'd have a new R8 in my driveway right now!!!! But I have to give love to the 2009 CTS-V as well. What a thing of beauty! |
I love the V versions of Cadillac, along with BMW's M's and MB AMG's....was hoping to see the new CTS-V and ZR1 at the show, but I was dissapointed once again. What do you guys think of the new G8? I kinda like it... |
Scott, I'm not convinced that a Pontiac can hold up to REAL driving. I avoid all GM products. I wish it didn't look so much like a Grand Am/Prix. Minnesota's car show is a joke. I'm from Los Angeles, go out there if you really wanting to start drooling. I'm a biased girl, but I do love a sexy car with purring engine.

I guess I'm not sure what you call "real" driving?? |
Josh, I like to take corners at somewhat higher speeds. I want a QUALITY transmission and engine that can perform at extremes. I haven't found an "American made" car that corners or performs the way those foreign jobbies do. Again, this is my observation.
