I have a 2001 escape that slips when going from drive to overdrive. If I turn the overdrive off the problem goes away. Is there an electronic part that may cause this?

Mine is doing the same thing. I think the problem is an ignition coil.

I have an '01 with 139,000 on it and I've been trying to figure out the same issue. Tranny works great through the gears but slides into OD and then will not stay there. Mileage is way down. I'm afraid it will need a rebuild but any help would be appreciated.

2002 V6 XLT Sport. I've had an issue with extereme shuddering and misfire, as well as rare difficulty in starting. When overdrive in "off" position, the shuddering and misfire stop. At first i thought it was because the issue was happening at highway speeds - low RPM (around 1,500) but the shuddering and misfire dont happen even at low RPM so long as overdrive is on "off" position.
Codes show fuel flow problem, but all fuel system components check out ok. I'm stumped....Has anyone had a similar issue?
