Had this problem with my 2003 Escape at about 63 000, as well as the Engine blowing up due to a bad piston about 1500 km before the alternator *grrrr*

Had this problem at 79400 km. My alternator overcharged and took my Battery out with it! Not looking forward to the bill from my mechanic!! First major repare though... Happy with everything else so far!

We have a 2003 Escape V6 with 70,000 miles, noticed 2 weeks ago paint is peeling on the top behind th sun roof and on the drivers side door. Fords say because it is out of warranty they will only pay 60/40. Is there any suggestions on who to contact at Fords to get help. We feel that Fords should take care of the repainting of the Escape. Thanks
Joe

I have a 2002 V6 Escape 74k and the alternator just went. The bad news came when I was told they had to take the drive shaft off to change it. 5-7 hours labor.

Escape 2.0 XLT 2001
Replaced the alternator a year ago, Mar 2007 with a reconditioned one. The original is double the price.
Replaced the battery in June 2006 and again today Mar 2008.
