Meredyth: Please.....at over $3.00 a gallon at the pump, he still feels the pain. The solution was the EV-1. Get educated, watch the movie, then write the facts.

How long does it take to save money if teh cost of teh vehicle is $3,000.00 more. Thats 1000 gallons of gas. at 30 miles per gallon that 30,000 miles. at 10,000 miles a year for me it would take three years. Plus how much does it cost when the batteries need to be replaced at the 5 to 7 year point. Could this cost factor affect trade in value? After 36,000 miles no warranty left on electrical system. How much to replace the charging system if it gors out? Are theses cars a good deal or has the public been not been fully informed as to the true cost of owning an operating this type of vehicle for 5 to 7 years.

yeah dont forget the tire pressure sensors in each wheel and spare tire that costs $300 and need a new battery every 5 years

My Camry Hybrid has an 8-year warranty on the battery and charging system. Not saying all manufacturers are the same, but some offer pretty good coverage. |

Hydrorunner here in the Tampa area has come up with a hydrogen-on-demand system to convert internal combustion engines & diesels into using petroleum fuel (gas or diesel)& hydrogen from regular tap water. Their press release was Feb 26on the AP wire but will be also be on locally next Monday. They have achieved a proven 84% increase in fuel mileage with their conversion system, tested by the EPA . They have also increased the horse-power & torque as well as made the vehicles 90%(or better) cleaner burning. Hopefully those guys will have this system commercially available really soon.
Hydrogen conversions are not entirely new but these guys have come up with a system to make it efficient & viable. Check out their website under "Hydrorunner" in your browser. |

Hydrogen is explosive...drive across state lines with those components in your trunk and you could be arrested in South Carolina.

AEP-
I'm guessing you didn't read their website nor are aware of the fact that there are safety devices to keep that from happening in a controlled system. Nuclear power is explosive too but we use it to produce electricity using safety devices in controlled systems. If you are referring to the 2 local college students' fiasco, I dare say they were using theirs to power their vehicles. |

Relax, TNC the gasoline in the cars fuel tank is explosive too. LOL |

You want REAL mileage? Get a VW diesel. We have 2 and AVERAGE 42 mpg. From what I read that beats a Prius in REAL WORLD driving conditions.

I average 38.4 mpg on my Toyota Camry on regular gasoline, which is cheaper than diesel fuel. |
