Got any auto zone they will plug it in for free and tell you what it is. Then they can clear it out for you

I have a '99 Dodge Ram, as well. Disconnecting the battery, even overnight, no longer works because starting in I believe 1996 this function now runs off a reserve power. I agree the light should not be ignored. A few months back, I took my truck to Autozone and was advised that I needed a fuel filter change. I bought the parts and had a friend do the replacement but was informed by Autozone that, due to some legal dispute, at least in the Phoenix area, they were no longer authorized to reset them. Checker Auto Parts quit doing the testing altogether. To make matters worse, I now can't get my vehicle inspected because the stupid light is still on. According to the pamphlet, it doesn't seem to matter why. It's an automatic fail. Does anybody have any other ideas? Money is a bit tight so any help would be appreciated.

take out the fuse for the pcm and turn on the ignition key to drain the capacitors which is the reserve power and the light will turn off.

Mine only 64,000 miles on it, have already put two transmissions in it in the last 6 months. I'd say they're junk.
