Greetings everyone. My neon is having an issue. It will not start. What happenes is that when you turn the key absolutely nothing happens with the motor. I can give you some of the troubleshooting steps we've taken:

* We've checked the clutch safety switch and its good
* jumpered the fuse panel and we can make the motor turn over but there is no fuel so it will not start.
* I actually changed the PCM out and the car would start and run for no more than 10 seconds before dying.(Throttle was responsive during the brief run time)

We've ruled out the starter as it will turn over.

Thoughts?

Have you checked the ground point to the radiator core support. (it's a thin wire that is bolted down to the structure member in the front of the car right on top) If the wire is good, have a friend with a continuity tester make sure the main wire from the alternator to the starter to make sure the fusable link part of it hasn't failed. Those are the two most common problems if you aren't getting ANY power to the dash when you turn the key on. If those check out, start pulling fuses from the box under the hood. Even if you don't think they'd have anything to do with the ignition. The neon is wired funny so even the most inconspicuous fuse could control something important. I'd suggest you focus on the fuel pump fuse and swap the auto shutdown relay with one for the other relays just to ceck that it's not the problem.

When above checks are negative on a 2005 Dodge Neon. Try the PCM. Dealer found that there was no communication between the ignition circuit and the PCM. Also he found the harness damaged. That is puzzling because the car never had any issues before since it was new and all winter in Canada and the vehicle goes to New Mexico and breaks down. Was told it will cost $5000.00 to repair.
