My beloved 1999 Dodge neon, purchased with 55K miles in 2003 just rolled into 235000. From what I have heard this is exceptional for a all-original Dodge Neon. Anyone else have a high mileage and going strong Dodge Neon?

My grandfather had one pushing ohh I'd say about 900,000 kilometers, and she was a little bit laggy, but she still moved, until she got totaled. But that sounds pretty good man.

I was dricing a 1997 Plymouth neon up to 206000 Miles and it was still running. Trans was mildly slippy and motor pulse ideled but it still drove fine. If anyone is looking for just a daily driver, id suggest buying a plymouth neon rather than a dodge, they are built a little stronger, a little more comfortable and a little more luxery, all for about the same price. Nice little car that was. Traded it for a 1998 Dodge Neon R/t That needed a clutch. now i got an R/t pushin 140 MPH =D

My beloved neon keeps going. Just about up to 264000miles now. Blew a transmission cooler line on a road trip from vicksburg, mi to cleveland, oh. Field repair at a rest stop (shorten hose, reclamp) and off I went. Replaced the radiator a week ago...the original one was so riddled with holes and missing so much "finning" in between the fluid channels that going over 65 MPH at 70 degrees required running the interior panel vents on high temp with the windows rolled down! This is living!

My 98 Plymouth Neon turned over 200,000 miles yesterday and it is running like a trooper. About 2 years ago, it was running a little sluggish. We had all the fluids drained, it was like a blood transfusion. The radio won't turn down and keeps getting louder when it is cold out and the driver side back door doesn't always lock with auto lock. But other than that, She is running great!!

I have a 98 Plymouth Neon with 115,000 miles. Still going strong, I bought the car from my uncle with 68,000 miles, he was original owner and had all receipts for oil changes etc.. at 113, 000 the trans went out, I replaced it. Today, I replaced the alternator. I have changed the oil every 3K (oil changes are the key to a long lasting engine!).The car has no rust, I wash and wax it regularly... The car still drives and rides good..with more frequent preventative maintenance as it gets older, it should last for another 50,000+ miiles.

206,000 miles and was still going strong until the trans oil cooler let go. I suspect it had trashed the transmission, so it will be coming out this week. Crazy idea putting the cooler inside the radiator!

My 1998 Dodge Neon has 195,500 miles on it. I bought it in 2001 with 48,000. It is running like a little champ. Same engine, same tranny. had to replace some mechanical wear and tear stuff like radiator, left axel, water pump and timing belt. I change the fluids on schedule and have my mechanic check it out every 3-5 months. I have no complaints about my little dusty, faded plum-colored Neon.

My red 2001 Dodge Neon is running great with 109,000 miles! I regularly change the oil every 3-4K miles. Last year I replaced the transmission and coolant lines as they were leaking. I replaced the timing belt at 105,000 miles. It has never left me stranded. The battery died while it was sitting in my garage so I put in a better long lasting battery. The "red dragon" as I call my neon doesn't do great in the snow. But it has great get up and go. I am about to pay it off (bought it in 2006) and will keep it for a long time after. Any idea on how well the 2004-2005 neons run? I'd like to get a newer one and keep my 2001 neon. Any comments would be great! Go NEON.

My 2000 Plymouth Neon just turned over 300,000 miles today and still runs very well. I call it my praise God car...I get to give praise when I get in to work in the morning and when I make it home at night...commuting 50 miles each way!:-)

Took it apart, cleaned it, and lost the pin for the roll-up window handle. Still didn't work, and I had to get a new pin. 146,542 miles, bought at 98,000 in 2004. Only regular maintenance and the speedometer fixes (easy!).

2000 Dodge Neon manual, bought brand new Summer of 1999. Just turned 190,000. Major repairs - clutch 2004. Minor - timing belt, serp and alt belt, front & back brakes, break cylinder, rear wheel bearing, front bushings, plugs & wires. Everything else is original and checked regularly (hoses, alternator, tranny, water pump). Never flushed anything yet. 52 mile commute each way everyday last 5 years, all highway. Cruise Control is wonderful! Firends and fmaily thing I'm nuts, but I know this car and its cheaper to fix than to buy new.

My 1999 Dodge Neon now has 230,000 and gets about 26 mpg in general traffic. I know it's less when I run the A/C. I drive with my work; and I'm the original owner. However, I've had major oil repairs a couple of years ago; and a new radiator last year. There have been repairs; but it still gets me where I need to go.

Hey Roger- 334,000 miles. What repairs have had to be made? I had no idea a neon would last this long.

Hi just want to add that my 05' sxt has 138,489 on it. heck of a lot of driving! been good so far, but having odd starting problem, it won't start today all of a sudden, starter, battery are new, no clicking, no sounds except the bell, and the battery is fully charged. checked all the relays and fuses and of course it's saturday and I can't get to the dealer till monday and I have to work. It's a manual and I called the dealer and they said that clutch switches never go out so it would be a week to order one. can't afford a rental car. anyone know how to by-pass a bad clutch switch? If that is what it is? any other ideas on what it might be? thanks!

Hey I have a 98 Dodge neon, 2.0L DOHC. Its the highline expresson version, 2 dr , I am wondering how you guys are getting 25+ mpg, the highest I have ever gotten is 180 all highway, and 150-160 city.. I don't gun it or rev it.. what do you think might be the problem? since winter just began when I started the car I smelled a real gassy smell from exhaust but then it went away.. I can't see any leaks , it has 115,000 miles on it.. any reason why im only getting about 16-18 mpg?? any help appreciated

Anyone else have a high mileage and going strong Dodge Neon? My girlfriend's '97 Plymouth neon Highline currently has 213,000 miles on the odometer. Despite replacing a number of parts, the vehicle still runs excellent given it's mileage and age. My goal is to keep the car road worthy until it reaches (and hopefully surpasses) 300,000 miles.

Anyone else have a high mileage and going strong Dodge Neon? My husband's 99 Neon (he bought brand new) will turn over to 300,000 miles tomorrow! Amazing? Yes! His daily commute is about 120 miles. Interior is as good as new. He will be driving it until it dies! Has anyone ever heard of a car or similar design reach 300,000???

He always changed the oil every 3m. However, now, he never changes it--he just puts in new oil! He doubled the value of the car last year--bought a new set of tires.
