For the stuck keys in the ignition in Park issue for the 93-99 Dodge Intrepids, here is what I found might be the issue... it could be the interlock mechanism that tells the ignition switch the car is in park isnt working... Two things could happen, one car is in park and key wont come out. Second, the gearshift could be taken out of Park without the key in the ignition and car could roll away! Here is a RECALL notice I found for that problem:

Hope this helps!

2001 Dodge Stratus, bought new. First time problem occurred this evening. Spent a couple hours playing with it intermittently. Did a search & found this forum. Took Anthony M's advice. Started car, rolled it back, shut it off, no good. Started it rolled it forward, shut it off again, no good. Started and rolled it back, shut it off again, no good. Started it and rolled it forward, then shut it off once more. key came right out.

Going to call dealer tomorrow and see what they know about it.

I have a 97 Jeep Cherokee that I have just had to buy a new Power steering pump for. Immediately upon picking up my car, I start having these same problems, I can't get the key to come out of the ignition. After a few struggles, it does release. This wasn't a problem before the repairs and I have found I can't really trust the mechanic (and let him know it) so I don't know if he did something to it or not. Can anyone give me an idea of what's wrong and if it's something that could have been done out of spite? Thanks for any help.

Hello,
I see that you went to the mechanic to see what your problem was? Can you say what they told you? My car has been in and out of the shop sooo much lately, I just can't put it in again but I am afraid that one of these times, my key will NOT come out of the ignition at all, it gets harder and harder. I just had a steering pump replaced and don't know if that has ANYTHING to do with the problem but it started the same night. Thanks for any help. Happy Thanksgiving! Sherry

I have a 2006 ford focus. This same thing happened to me. In my case the switch that lets my car know its in park was gunked up with some coke I spilt or something, and it was not sending the signal that I was out of drive. Even though my car was in park. If you find a good mechanic (who wont rip you off) they can clean it out real well for about 80$

You'll never believe what the mechanic found when I brought my 2001 Dodge Stratus to the dealer when the key wouldn't come out of he ignition... ACORNS...! Yes, acorns... it seems there is a flap or a lever or something that is supposed to drop down when the shift is placed in he park position. That flap or lever is what signals the ignition to release the key. It seems that some chipmunks had found their way into the empty space below the gear shift trying to out of the cold apparently, and were storing up acorns in there for the winter. When I went to pick my car up, the mechanic presented me with an oil filter box which he opened up to show me all the acorns he had emptied from the shift box area. It allowed that flap to drop, and I haven't had a problem since. Oh, yes, and to stop the chipmunks from getting up in the shift box again I got a box of mothballs for $6 at the grocery store and spread them on the garage floor right under the car where
they were getting in... solved my problem, hope it helps in solving yours...!

My problem was similar, except that it was some spilled soda that gunked up, preventing the flap from dropping down. It works a little different in my ford focus, but the same concept. For anybody who is having this problem (key stuck in ignition), this is most likely the cause. There is no need to spend hundreds of dollars. It cost me 80$ to fix, and that's with warranty. So if it ever gunks up again I can take it in and have him clean it up again. Hope this helps!

ive got a 98 chevy blazer and i have the same problem!!!i wish i knew how to fix it because it is very frustrating!i think it has to do with the way ur wheels are sitting when you turn it off. after wiggling the steeing wheel over and over again pulling the key out works!! just wiggle the steering wheel maybe.

Ok I have a '89 chevy cavalier, have never had any problems till today. You can turn on the car fine. But when you are getting ready to turn it off, I can't turn the key in the ignition to shut it off. I practically have to shake and turn hard, push the black button on the side of the ignition and it still won't turn. I checked the to make sure it is in neutral and everything...wtf?
