I have a 2001 SE V6 Pathfinder. The horn, cruise control, and the volume for the stereo on the steering wheel is not working. I have checked all fuses, the relay, and both horns and they are good. While testing the #1 or the #2 position on the horn relay directly to the ground, the relay energized and the horn blew constantly. If there is anyone out there who has had this problem and can give me feedback, please comment.
Thanks,
J.P.

What does this question have to do with Dodge Caravans and Serpentine belts falling off in the rain? Why not post your question in a Nissan forum, you just might get some real help?

I have a 1993 Dodge Caravan with this problem of the belt coming off. But I noticed that most of these posts are for 1996 and newer Caravans as well as the Gates kits. Would someone please tell me if these Gates kits will work on my '93 or if there is any other RELIABLE fix for the belt coming off? [email protected] THANKS!

Does this place sell just the double sided belt? I would like to install the kit, but would also like to know I can purchase a replacement belt without spending the extra money on a complete kit.

replaced the g/d pulley... the profile on the old and the new seem to appear somewhat conical which would encourage the belt offing itself. the tensioner arm and its support may also contribute to the slight misalignment. if the pulley had a ridge on the open side edge it would train the belt to the proper alignment even when other slight misalignments are present. p/o'd and dangerous :)

A regular gates belt will not work with these special double sided grooved belts.

I just want to know that when I travel, I can stop at a local NAPA or auto parts store and purchase just the belt and if so what is the part number.

I have a 97 Dodoge Grand Caravan with problems that started with the belt comming off. However, there is a very annoying squealing that comes with the problem. Starts off softly and usually upon acceleration. A week might go by and everytime you start the engine the squeal is there. During idling and acceleration.
I have read over most of the 151 posted suggestions and I just want to make sure my problem is the same. I didn't see much mention of the dreaded squeel. I would like to drive it off a cliff.
Would the Goodyear Kit help my problem as well?

Yes. The goodyear kit will help you out. Your belt tensioner is probably seizing up and not putting the correct amount of tension on the belt. I would simply go an get either the goodyear or the gates fix kit for this vehicle and install it. There is a slight chance that your alternator bearings may be shot, however, I would go with the belt fix kit first.

I also had the horrible squealing. I just got the Goodyear kit today - thanks to those who recommended it - and the mechanic put it on in about an hour. It hasn't squealed again! I just want to drive the car all day now - it is such a pleasure. The mechanics were just raving about what a good idea is was and what a good design. I think this is the best $175 (parts + labor) I have ever spent on this car!

I have a 1990 Dodge Grand Caravan and have had to replace 2 belts - both incidents were in dry weather. Thank GOD I didn't lose steering coming off a winding mountain road - we could have all been killed. Getting rid of this piece as soon as possible. Another thing - it's complicated to tear down and work on.

I managed to locate the GATES SYSTEM SOLUTION MICRO-V KIT FOR CHRYSLER 3.3L AND 3.8L ENGINES (38379K)at NAPA here in REGINA Canada. I could not find anyone who handled the Goodyear kit. The kit cost about $168CDN - through the Dodge dealer. I have had it on for 2 weeks - lots of rain, and NO PROBLEMS! This kit come's highly recommended!

I have a 1994 Caravan - just happened yesterday for the second time this year...we are having alot of rain this year...my mechanic told me that the fix doesn't work for earlier than 1996 models, so avoid puddles...of course, we are breaking records for rainfall in Texas this year...so avoiding puddles is near impossible. I will NEVER buy a Chrysler product again - NEVER
