I am having problems with the alarm system setting itself and killing the engine. When this happens it takes several hours to reset and has been several days a few times. I have had this van at several mechanics and cannot remove the alarm but cannot because it is factory installed into the computer.

I need help. Just now having problems with electrical system on 98 Grand Caravan 223000 miles. Electric fans will not come on for radiator. The relay and fuses are good. One rear vent window will not open or close and on the Heater/AC area four lights flash on and off while driving for 15 minutes and then go off until I restart the car. I have temporarily solved the fan situation with a toggle switch to the battery. I would like to nip this in the bud without dumping thousands into a car that is one major problem from the Junk yard. Any suggestions.
there's a sensor on the bottom right side of the radiator. change it.

My 99 Caravan is having starting problems. It has been going on for about 3 months now. It will take several cranks to get it to start. There is full power with all electrical items so that part is eliminated. This past week it has gotten more difficult to get started. About 20 to 30 turns. Now this morning it will not start. STill have power though. Once it has been ran during the day, I don't usually have problems again until it sits overnight. Ugh! My hubby switch out the ignition switch back in October right after we bought it because the key got stuck and would come out or turn over the engine. Any help???
check the fuel injectors. one or more might be worn out.

How long will my 97 or 98 dodge grand caravan last me? I have a 130,000 miles and have babied it with recommended oil and service recommendations. I have had the transmission rebuilt several times, fuel filter replaced, etc.
Not sure if it is worth any more major repair costs. What are your thoughts? Thanks for your input

My 1998 Dodge grand Caravan has a leak from the windshield site which the accumulates water at the area behind the dashboard and dash compartment. already applied silicone sealant to the rubber for the windshield but water is still seeping in during heavy downpours and when the van is parked.
Water not seeping into the electronics, yet.
Any ideas on where this is coming from and how to take care of it?
I had the same problem and I removed the wiper blades to remove the cowl piece at bottom of windshield and the drain holes were clogged with leves cleaned it out and that solved my problem. Good luck

I have the same problem. I believe it lies in the connection to the instrument cluster in regards to the security system since not allowing the engine to run is a security lock-out feature. I have not actuall fixed mine yet, but I have been trying something new that appears to be promising. When you insert your key into the ignition, switch the car "on", but do not start! Wait til the gas gauge moves and other lights go through their sequence, then start the vehicle. I have not had a failure since I have been doing this.

I am having an unusual elctrical problem on my 1998 Caravan where all of the electrical items on my steering column are not functioning. The Horn, cruise control, and air bag light displays. Is there one relay for all items or could there be some other disconnect from the steering wheel. The horn does sound with a beep when I hit the alarm system on my keyring.
Any advice would be great. Thanks all!
it is a recall on the clock spring. take it to your dodge dealer and they will fix it for free

i have the same problem with my 98 not starting cause the gauges wont come on. there is a leak at the windshield that is letting moisture and rain leak on my dash cluster. when its dry out the van runs like a champ but if there is a heavy dew or rain it wont start for a few days.i took my cluster out covered it with plastic and now it works fine.i got told alota things b4 when i was trying to figure it out.i was told it was the key, the cluster soldering was bad, my comp was fried and a number of other things. this might not fix your problems but it did work for mine i hope this helps someone out there
