our 2006 just won't start--evertyhing works, but no click, nothing from the starter. has happened 3 times in 4 mos. It is still under warranty, but dealers can't figure t out so won't attempt to fix anything. very dissapointed in dodge and their dealers

After waiting anywhere from 15 minutes to 24 hours later it will start right back up. Mechanics can find nothing wrong. This has happened at least 6 times in 4 years. It is dangerous! Anyone else have this problem?

When I start my 02 Grand Caravan in the morning, if I turn the wheel to the right it feels like there is no power steering. Then I get a clunk and everything is fine. This only started since the weather cooled.

Any thoughts?

sounds like an internal failure in the power steering gear assembly (rack)...back in the 80's gm had a problem with no steering assist when the vehicle was cold...ok after it warmed up...is used to be called "morning sickness"....rack is not recommended to be repaired/rebuilt..only replaced...hope this helps...

I am hopeing that Cathy the one that wrote this message will reply to my message because I had the same problem as her and am still having the same problem. They actually replaced the main computer in my 2003 van and this seemed to help for about 6 months until now.

Here is my latest story, if any one could help I would really appreciate it:

2003 Dodge Caravan Problem December 17, 2007

The security light on my dodge caravan would intermittently come on. Starting about 2 months ago. Some times when I am driving it the little red dot would come on and stay on until I would turn off the engine and start the engine again.

Today I changed the oil and when I went to start the van after putting the filter, plug and oil in it. The van would start, rev up a little, bring revs down to normal and stall. This repeated 3 to 4 times. Then “done”. The odometer said “done”. So, what is the van done? What does done mean? Then it wouldn’t even turn over at all. I tried 3 or 4 times to re-start and it wouldn’t even turn over. I then changed the gears up and down and then it started again. I let it run and the red security dot would not turn off. I then turned the van off added a little more oil. Went to restart the van and it did the exact same thing. Started, stalled. Started, stalled. Started, stalled. Wouldn’t turn over. Wouldn’t turn over. Wouldn’t turn over. Wouldn’t turn over. Then started. I took the van over to my dads to put it on the obd2 reader and nothing. No codes or anything. It wouldn’t stall or anything. We wiggled wires and nothing.

Please email me @ [email protected] if you possibly have the anyswer. Thanks, Blaine

I have a 2002 Grand Caravan ES and my front A/C & heating doesn't blow(I can barely feel cold and hot air when they are turned on), but when I select the "rear controls" for the back of the van and the A/C & heating both work in the rear. Is it the blower motor or resistor switch as stated earlier(mopar part # 04885583AB)? Can anyone help?

My 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan seems to have a power steering issue. Every now and then it, when first starting, will not allow you to turn the steering wheel. When waiting for 15-45 seconds, it seems to resolve and all is normal. Checked the fluids, and is fine. Any suggestions?

I have a 2002 Dadge Grand Caravan. About a month ago, I had turned the key forward to hear the radio for a min. and then forgot to turn it off. Had to get it jumped off, and everything was fine. A week ago I turned the key bakward to hear the radio and it started just fine afterwards. About 2 hours later, it wouldnt start. Made a horrible clicking noise (but sounded much worse than last month). Jumped off just fine, but immediately noticed while driving, it would suddenly jump when it down shifted (at 30 mph everytime). I had the battery replaced but still have the problem. I checked the codes and only got the code for having the bat. disconnected. Does anyone have any idea what the prob could be?

Your rack and pinion gear has gone out. we had this happen to us. make sure you replace the power steering pump when you fix it the pump goes bad and then knocks out the rack and pinion

My 2002 Grand Caravan has also had the same kind of knocking in the front end over small bumps. It has just over 60k miles on it. I had a loose inner left tie rod repaired to the tune of about 400 dollars...but part of the problem still exists. They, too, told me it could end up being a strut mount or valve problem. I questioned this, and saw this site...the comment about the sway bar bushings. I called the Garage and asked them if they'd checked those. They said that they didn't see any problem with them. Is it possible that this truly is simply a case of normal aging with this particular vehicle? I had a full inspection done on suspension, and they said everything was tight and in good working order.
I had front-end noise with my 2002 Caravan and the sway bar bushings looked normal until I pulled the passenger side bushing. It was slightly worn. I replaced it and the noise went away. Cost for the two bushing was $13. I only replaced the passennger side.

Thank you for the tip! It worked like a charm on my 2003 Grand Caravan. I got the codes and saved a bunch of money.

Put the key in, turn to "start" position but do not turn over as in don't actually start it. Then back to orig. position. Repeat 3-4 times and some codes should come up on the odometer. Leave it until it says "done". The codes will tell you what the problem is. Post the codes & I'll find the paths to what they mean.

If anyone could please give me some advice on my problem with my minivan I would greatly Appreciate it. I have been having an ongoing issue with my vehicle. It started out with the symptoms of a thermostat that was sticking. I would be driving and the temp gauge would read hot and the coolant light would come on along with the car over heating. And there would be no hot air coming out of vents when on full blast. Then when I reved the engine it all of a sudden went back down to normal and heat would flow ouot of vents. I took the van to the shop. at first they did a coolant flush, new thermostat, new radiator cap, and a new serpentine belt. The problem persisted, Then they did another flush checked the thermostat, said it was working fine.. had it for a day then it happened again. They did everything all over again took the top half of engine apart to flush the coolant ports and also put a new water pump. They said it was fixed.. i have had it back for a couple of days. And guess what its happening again. yesterday when it was first running it did this but after running it all day it leveled ouot and worked fine the longer it was running. But today it's still doing this. Does anyone have any idea why? I don't feel comfortable taking it back to the shop as it has been a couple of thousand dollars later and I still have the same problem.

I bought a 2001 Dodge Caravan six months ago, it was running great until about a month ago. I took it to the dealership that I had bought it from because I have a 18 month powertrain/engine warrenty and free oil changes. They did an oil change, change the thermostate and what they called "stabalizing links". Of course it wasn't under the warrenty. Right after this was done I started to hear a popping noise when I made some turns. Took the van back to the dealership. They told me that it was my passenger side hub bearing, paid 200 to fix. Left the dealership, drove the thirty miles home and the van was popping again. Took it back, this time they told me it was probably the sway bar links, it wasn't the suspension because they tugged on everything and that was the only thing it could be and it would be 200 to fix. I said no and went to another mechanic just for an estimate. He put my van on a lift and told me that the stabilizing link and sway bar link were the same thing. That they never lubricated the sway bar link when put on, plus they didn't bolt it together it was just hanging there and no to damaged to be bolted on, plus my tie rod was now bad and I had an oil leak around my oil sensor and already had lost a half a quart of oil in 1 1/2 weeks and have never lost oil before. But he couldn't tell me if that was the source of my popping and if anything they did caused the bad tie rod or oil leak. Any suggestions on the popping noise or what to do next would be truly apprieciated.

Mine made a creaking noise while going over bumps that got worse when you turned. If yours is creaking too I would assume that it is the sway bar links.
