I have a 2005 caravan that now won't start it was acting up for a while sometimes it would start next time it would not now not at all.I have removed the fuse panel under the hood and removed the electrical connectors there was some corrosion so I cleaned them and greased them and reinstalled. If i cross the starter relay over the motor turns over but no start still. If i cross over the fuel pump relay i can hear it.When I turn the key on to start there is nothing all the light come on i can hear a relay under the hood but nothing. When I try the remote start same thing so that rules out my ignition switch. The check engine light comes on sometimes(as i keep removing the battery)but goes out shortly after but when I plug my scan tool into the OBD2 plug in it won't sink up it keeps saying to check connection and make sure key is on.I am now lost anyone able to help.

This is a long shot, but it did clear up one electrical problem for me, a turn signal that was working incorrectly. Sometimes computers get "confused" and have to be reset by removing all power for a few minutes and then reenergizing. Disconnect the battery, wait a few minutes, then reconnect it. If the problem is due to a bad computer state, this may clear it up.

yes after spending $500.00 on a new fuse panel and searching the wiring harness around the panel I took it to the dealer and they found a broken wire not sure where it cost me an hour labour at the dealer.

Its on the drivers side under the hood behind the battery. Some things are also inlined fuses through out the van.Caution the plugs on the bottom of the fuse pannel are most likely corroded and could be the cause of furture problems.

Amazing... I have a 2005 Dodge Caravan that starts and stops when it wants to ... I thought maybe it was the starter. I've only had the vehicle for one year so it's still under some type of warranty. Yeah right! Yesterday the insurance mechanic said oh it's the alternator. They replaced it... My jive time insurance pays for the part but not the labor... They say it 'may' fix the problem... HMM ... so if I have to go back for something related - I have to still pay the labor... This is crazy! Also, my headlights and back lights and dashboard blink like crazy... Just like someone blinking their eyes... Strange vehicle!

I guess I need to take it to the dealer!

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan.

my key 'fob' fell apart yesterday.

i left the interior lights on last night. but i think they turn themselves off after a few minutes.

the van started nicely this morning, but mysteriously turns itself off after about 10 seconds.

i do have a car starter, but have not used it this fall.

could it have to do something with my key 'fob'? I think not only becasue it seems to only activate the horn and auto doors.

Hi Everyone! My Dodge Caravan 2011 has been not starting on the first ignition attempt for several months. It acts up sporadically. First attempt to turn it on nothing happens. Second attempt nothing happens. Usually on a third attempt it catches and turns on. We took it to Fred Martin and purchased a new battery because it was worn down. However we noticed right away it was still stalling when we turned the ignition off and on. We took it back to Fred Martin and left it there all day. They said they could not re-enact the problem, therefore they could not find the problem; it cost me $76. Last night at 11 pm my husband was stranded because it completely stalled, but this time it wouldn't come on at all. After a jump start, it did not come on, and before the tow truck arrived, it magically started after an hour by itself. This morning I took it to NT, they kept it all afternoon and they also said they could not re-enact the problem, and that until they can, or if our car stalls again, there is nothing they can do. They did not charge me. Thank God! They suggested for me to have it towed back there when I cuts off again. Monday I'm trying another mechanic more money more money. Please help!

I know it is a late post t for the one who haven't figured this out by now this problem can most likely be a cylinder misfire I have owned 4 dodge caravans still have two on the road now a 2004 and 2006 my 2004 however did encounter this problem can be a simple fix or a hard one..... start by changing the spark plugs and spark plug wires... if still no luck time to get dirty, start taking off the head manifold located right on top of the engine held on by 8 10mm bolts remove the air intake first then remove the egr return line 4 8mm bolts and all other components attached to the manifold under there you with either see 4 or 6 wires (4 cylinder or 6 cylinder) attached to green plugs they are your fuel injectors try replacing them as im assuming your not in a shop and cant have them tested. if problem still occurs you may have a bad cylinder that needs to be replaced, in my case it was my 3rd cylinder that was misfiring and was caused by a bad injector...

5 year mechanic
