2005 Durango Check Engine Light

My otherwise trouble free 2005 SLT 2WD had the engine check light come on at exactly 24000 miles. Oil fine, Antifreeze fine, gas cap on tight, runs fine otherwise.
Called dealer and they said it was coincidence that it could be an emissions issue. Just passed state vehicle emissions test 3 weeks ago where they hooked up to OBD II under dash for test.
Anybody have similar light come on at 24K?
Dealer swears it isn't a light timed to come on at 24K service interval but I'm not convinced.

Yes mine did that to. And it turned off after about a thousand miles. The dealer said dont worry about it. So I didn't and it is just fine. But I still wonder why it did that. Have a nice day.

My 2004 Durango just did the same thing when I was putting my Seadoo into the water. The tailpipe was under water for about 3 minutes so I'm guessing that's what caused it. I only have 11k miles on it. Does anyone know if it will go away on its own or do I have to reset it somehow?

YOU CAN RESET IT BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY FOR A FEW MINUTES

my 2005 dodge slt 1500 truck with the hemi engine check engine light came on at 24042 miles.

My 2005 SLT AWD had the engine check light come on at exactly 29400 miles. Oil fine, Antifreeze fine, gas cap is tight, runs fine otherwise. I
Called dealer and they said it was coincidence that it could be an emissions issue. Anybody have similar light come on at 29K +?
Do I have to take the car in and waste my day or can I reset it on my own? Anyone....

Mine came out at exactly 60K, hmmmm

My engine light just came on too in my 2005 1500. I just cleared 50K in mileage.

My 2005 1500 Hemi quad cab just got a new engine put in and now when I drive it the temperature guage goes up to 3/4. It never even moved before. Does anyone have a similar problem? The dealer said it's normal but the antifreeze is low too. I have test drove others and they don't do that either.

the light will not come on at a certian milage it can come on as soon as you pull out of inspection it;s a machine anything can happen it will be a emission related item you can go to auto zone and they will tell you whats wrong no charge

are you running regular unleaded? If so it may effect your knock sensor which will make you light go on. fill up with premium and Reset the light by disconecting your battery. or you can go to Autozone and rent a diaognostic tool to reset the light. The other thing that will cause a engine light to come on is a loose fuel cap.

I recently purchased a 2005 Durango, the odometer shows 35435 miles. The MIL came on this morning out of the blue. Would using 87 octane instead of 89 cause this to happen? I'm on my first tank since taking delivery from the dealer.

I have a 2006 quad 1500 with the hemi and my light came on again this morning. Makes the third time in 30 days. The week before last they (dealer) had it for 4 days and ended up replacing the PCM and a bunch of other sensors. The week before that it came on along with the gascap error on the Odometer.

Seems to happen after it sits for a couple of days and then I start it up early on a chilly morning.- The knock sensor post above seems logical. So I'll top it off with premium and reset the computer before taking it back to the dealer.

Soy propietario de una RAM 2500... y desde hace unos dias me aparecio el error de GASCAP y desdias despues aparecio el error MIL, nose que hacer pues en el Five star Service de dodge me han dicho que el problema kedaba solucionado al reiniciar la computaroda y al dia siguiente de estops he vuelto a tener el mismo problema... saludos !

Our 2005 Durango's engine light just came on at 7,816 miles. Otherwise it is fine for a gas guzzling pig. I'll let it go for a few days before I worry about it.

MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 62000 MILES THEN IS GOES ON AND OFF FROM TIME TO TIME ANY INFO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING

My 2005 ligt has came on at 34500 miles. went down to the local AutoZone and they said the number 1# spark plug is running rich. so i going to change the spark plugs to day. After i get it checked again at another location.

On a long trip, my SLT RPMs jump from 2000 RPMs to 3000 RPM intermittently and it sounds as if my tranny is slipping.(80,000 miles) Later next year on a long trip same thing and then the engine light turned on. After the light turned on, the tranny could not make up it's mind what gear it wanted to be in. Dealer said it is electronic issue and called it "Torque Converter lock". Is my tranny going? Has anyone resolved this issue, how and how much?
