Lost all Transmission while driving. Turned a corner gave some gas, nothing happened. Coasted to a stop, ran it through all gears, no joy. Whirring sound from torque converter area. Towed to Dodge, Filter / Fluid check good, no debris. Dodge is in-process of disassembly of tranny now. Mech stated "I have No idea"
Did you ever figure out what it was... mine just did the same thing. 80,000 miles driving on the highway, went to accelerate and nothing happened. Trying to figure out what to do next! What was it?

"Ken"]I have a 2006 Duurango with an automatic transmission and ~30,000 miles (warranty is up). I have problems with it not wanting to shift out of first gear. It has happened on warm days with AC running and typically on inclines (albeit slight). If I park it and let it cool down it works fine. Any suggestions?
Hey I have a 2003 does exact same thing when you find out what it is please let me know .

My Durango started this about 50,000 miles. feels like it surges. replaced EGR valve, now OK.

My 2001 Durando made a funny sound while driving it,and it felt like it was under the motor, but I drove it home ok,and after I was trying to back up and put it on reverse to go some where,it just was not backing up any more.Going forward it drives normal, but will not go on reverse. I have a 2004 durango hemi 4 wheel drive just had the transfer case replaced. got going down the road and it wont shift to 3rd gear or overdrive after second it seems as if it goes to neutral and just revs up but if I slow down to about 40 and kick it,it shifts back down to 2nd and takes off. Someone told me this could be the filter.... any 2nd opinions?

mine did the exact same thing, just got mine out of the shop and they had to replace the plastic forks that were wore down in the transfer case. need to drop the entire transmission to get to the transfer case, that was the biggest expense (over $800)

I have a 1999 Durango. Recently, it hasn't been shifting well. When it is cold it works fine, but after about 10 miles of driving, it has trouble. It won't shift to the next gear untiu around 5000 rpm, sometimes not shifting out of 2nd or 3rd at all. I had a trans shop hook it up to there computer only for it to read low voltage. Alternator was good but battery was bad, replaced battery but still problem exhisted. Does anyone have any advise. Truck has 128000 miles on it.

Have an 03 durango 4wd, 5.9L V8. 130 K miles. 2nd gear started to slip a few weeks ago. Shop changed fluids and flushed. Ran ok for two weeks. Now truck acting up again. Lost second gear and over drive while driving today. I could not make it hit either gear no matter what I tried. Motor would redline going from first to third and not shift past fourth gear. Please tell me its a sensor and that you do not have to drop the tranny for repair!?

<quoted text> I have a '06 with a 4.7L. we were driving down the street and hit a speed bump "normally" and the truck stopped pulling and the engine revved up but wouldn't go; towed it back and scanned it with a code tool got a code: P0841 transmission fluid press. sensor /switch, I replaced the press. switch ($75.00), went back in to the ECM and cleared the code ,started it up and still the same. So I decided to change out my fluid and filters(2-on the 545RFE), drained the oil pan and I reached up to take the retaining screw out for the flat filter and the filter fell out with the filter seal attached; (not supposed to do that), changed them out and reinstalled the new seal, that went in really tight;refilled everything and the truck runs and shifts like before. If this doesn't fix the problem then get it scanned and as one guy told me you might have the front transmission fluid pump go out and that were it gets expensive ,but they have the tools to check line pressure. hope this helps.
Just had the samething happen, hit a raised manhole cover, then the engine revved and stopped going, had it towed to the dealer will find out in the morning. Will definately use the info you provided.

I have a 2000 Durango SLT with the 4.7 in it. maybe once a week when i get up around 50 mph i feel what almost seems like a miss. I see other people have posted about this also, its like one little hesitation, and then its over with. Also, when driving sometimes, maybe twice a week the trans almost feels like it slips from 1st to second, but all the rest of the shifts are fine, could this be the trans filter and fluid, or a bad trans.
